Re: Blue Cards
Must be an average of 15 to 25 fouls given most games. Some even more. Are most of them just genuine accidents? Don't think so, although I accept that they are not all necessarily malicious

Re: Blue Cards
Of course they are. They may not deliberately go in to a tackle with the intention of kicking someone on the shin, but by the careless and clumsy nature of the tackle, they know they ain't winning the ball

Re: Blue Cards
Virtually all fouls in the professional game are quite deliberate. Surely that suggests a level of cynicism in all fouls. Is a kick on the ankle less deserving of punishment than a little tug of a shirt? Yellow cards are already given for so called tactical fouls and if it is hoped that players will...

Re: Blue Cards
I don't understand what problem they're trying to solve, but this would certainly cause all sorts of new problems for referees and players alike. Ridiculous idea. Not sure but presumably it's to solve the problems of dissent and cynical play. Just a guess. Can you give the definitions for foul play...

Re: Most trouble you’ve seen at a football match
PS. On our way home, we met in with another Celtic fan from our village. I asked if he had witnessed the fighting. Yes, he replied "I was in the thick of it. It was magic" Takes all sorts I suppose

Re: Most trouble you’ve seen at a football match
1977 Scottish Cup final. Absolute mayhem outside the ground after the game. Not pavement dancing, but several thousand Celtic and Rangers fans absolutely battering each other. As a 16 year old, I was crapping myself, but was watching from the relative safety of the old North Stand. The battle noise ...

Re: Traitors S2 (definitely contains spoilers)
I've never watched it, mainly because the trailers I've seen (and of course it even features heavily on the BBC news now) suggests its load of staged pap. Like most so-called "reality" shows I suppose

Re: Traitors S2 (definitely contains spoilers)
I suppose we should prepare for a host of these contestants to start doing the rounds on the Z-list slebs circuit. Saw one on WILTY last night. Quite what the point of him being there among professional comedians was, I'm not sure. Cheap I suppose.

Re: What are you reading?
Just finished Winter in Madrid by CJ Sansom. Historical novel set during the Spanish Civil War. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I had previously read his Shardlake series about a lawyer during the Tudor reign. Might not sound too exciting, but very readable and gives an insight into life in those times. The ...

Re: Favourite Bolton players
Classy player, but one of those who you felt never really gave his all. He was the first guy I ever saw do that warm up routine - juggle the ball on the head a few times, bend forward let the ball rest on the back of the neck, straighten up and let the ball run down your back, flick it back over you...

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Have never watched Traitors as Claudia Winkleman makes me feel nauseous. Have seen lots of trailers for it though and my question is; are the contestants really ordinary members of the public or are they really hammy am dram actors?

Re: If resurrection were possible, should we do it?
If we had that type of technology I would prefer we bring back extinct animals rather than people . We've already done that. Have you never visited Jurassic Park? I'd bring back the likes of Julius Caesar and have him fight Vercingetorix mano a mano. Or Leonidas v Xerxes would pull in the crowds. Y...
