Must be an average of 15 to 25 fouls given most games. Some even more. Are most of them just genuine accidents? Don't think so, although I accept that they are not all necessarily malicious

Of course they are. They may not deliberately go in to a tackle with the intention of kicking someone on the shin, but by the careless and clumsy nature of the tackle, they know they ain't winning the ball

Virtually all fouls in the professional game are quite deliberate. Surely that suggests a level of cynicism in all fouls.
