Let’s just hope a condition in Richie Wellen’s contract stated, he has full control of transfers of who comes in/out.
He will have a mass clear out, half this squad will go.
Hopefully he will start with showing the current transfer committee the door!
Unless he has a A TOP 2 BUDGET ,
He wont succeed .
So 2 of the teams that go up this season will be the top 2 budget teams in the league?
FGR save all there money by being Vegan &
Have more money to spend on Football .
Whoever comes 2nd will also be a top 2 budget side .

it's time the owners told us fans, who was really responsible for bringing in the crap players in January.
No bullshit, the truth.
We know it was Ling who brought Coleman here because he said in his interview, just before Jackett was sacked.
He said he had been following Coleman for two years, and finally was able to get him.
That was way before Jacket came here, so it was definitely Ling.
We need to know about the rest, because the whole episode was a disaster.
Again falling into the TRAP !
Top 8 budget is doomed to FAILURE ,
A TOP 2 BUDGET guarentees SUCCESS !
You’re obsession with this is a bit grating. I dunno where you’ve plucked this from, or if it’s tongue in cheek.
Having more budget does not guarantee success if you put it in the wrong hands. All managers and DoF are restricted by a budget but the best ones think outside of the box on how to use it and are thinking 2-3 years in the future on building a team, not just players to fill out a squad for numbers.
With the same approach next year, we could have a budget 10 times higher than anyone else and we might just scrape the playoffs with a bit of luck.
Your Obsession & Hatred for the Name Ling has gone beyond Grating , in fact is verging on Bullying some to the point of suicide .
Fortunately Martin Ling now gets Through
This narrow minded abuse that he receives .

No, we do not NEED to know.

We will go round in circles with this. The club, just before sacking KJ, rallied around to basically put out the message that ‘the manager decides what players come in’ so KJ is squarely to blame, right?
Well, apart from the fact that we know that Coleman was on Lings radar when KJ was at Portsmouth, the alleged list of signings on the other board tbat KJ wanted and we failed to sign, and the fact that, in a bizarre move, as soon as the Jan signings were put in the team, the manager, who allegedly picked them, moaned constantly about how they didn’t have enough experience for league two.
So something doesn’t add up.
I think what’s pretty clear is that either the process is so convoluted that the owners, Ling, nor the manager actually knows who was responsible, or that the wording on how they work has been manipulated to suit Ling (and to a degree, the owners, when they fail).
Saying that, after hearing bits about Kenny, he doesn’t exactly sound like he was of sound judgement in his time here, and either he did have a level of say (even if that was, take this player or nothing), or he didn’t have the bollocks to stand up for himself and the team and say no to the sh*t he was given.
Regardless, what matters is we don’t continue to make the same mistakes. The new ceo, with fresh eyes, should be all over this already. Refine the process, what went wrong, who does Richie want to work going forward, etc… my only issue is that Nigel and Martin have been so insistent on the success of the process, I think they are a bit blinded by it. Challenge culture and all that, Nigel, let’s start putting that into practice and let’s really challenge what we know and what we think we know so Richie gets the best chance of success.
I dont know if 'decides' is the right word. But I remember Ling saying KJ had the biggest or final say. There was a thread at the time quoting exactly what was said in Lings pod interview.
Football isnt as simple as it once was or like FM where one man scouts, negotiates and signs all the players.
How I see it is, the head coach will identify what type of players he needs. The scouts and dof will identify who is suitable and available, consulting owners to see who is affordable, consulting stats people also, they'll come up with a list and take it back to the committee and head coach, perhaps some will be ruled out based on previous experience with the player or feedback etc. They'll decide who to go for, dof starts negotiating with clubs/players.
Or perhaps theres another scenario where the head coach knows a specific player he would like, I imagine due diligence would be done and an attempt to sign the player would then be made.

It felt like Kenny said what positions he wanted strengthening and Ling went out and signed who he thought he could for those positions . If Martin wants to target what players we sign then maybe he should put his tracksuit back on and manage the team himself . He might not be picking the team but he seems to be picking some signings . If we want to fail again next season just carry on has we are . In the Summer the club has to have a rethink on what direction they want to go in . This season we have flirted with relegation thanks to Kenny and our transfer committee . Personally I would choose to go with exactly who Richie wants without any interference from our inept transfer committee .lastly, if we’re unable to bring in our manager’s first, second or even third choice of players then we should just forget it and play our youngsters. If our January business is anything to go by we’d save money and be miles better of.
Exactly this, remember the specific wording regarding transfers that NT said
"Kenny tells us what he wants then we sign the players"
The "what" rather than "who" makes all the difference

I'm fully aware of Ling's struggles, thank you very much. He is in a position of power in a football club and is open to scrutiny. Saying that comments i've made could make someone kill themselves is very hurtful. I understand your point and we should all be careful with what we say about others, but i'm very confident that all of my comments have been very much on the right side of this debate.
Throwing around accusations that someone is a bully and could lead them to kill themselves is very serious, and without evidence could be more damaging than said comments themselves. I accept better from you and will be waiting for an apology otherwise i'll just block you and move on.

Yep, all of this.
The fact Wellens has come in as Head Coach rather than Manager, as KJ was, kind of worries me that he won't be given full control and it'll still be The Committee ie Ling making calls on what players we bring in.
Hang on, I'm a bit confused now.
So, Kenny was a 'Manager' and therefore had full control over who he brought in - which means that it was ACTUALLY done by the transfer committee - which is really Ling on his own.
Wellens is only a Head Coach and therefore does
not have full control over who is brought in - which means that it is ACTUALLY done by the transfer committee - which is really Ling on his own.
Did I get it right ?

Is there a set amount which makes a top 2 budget? Also wondering who decides what is and isn't a top 2 budget. Or is it just that those who finish in the top 2 by default have a top 2 budget just by being there, no matter how much they spent

The Question is a Top 8 budget.
Has FAILED FOR THE LAST 2 SEASONS .
The HALF WITS call out the DoF for all manner of things .
A top 2 Budget is a budget
Where.the.person in charge of.the team
Is given what he needs at the start of the season .
As was done 2018-19 .
A budget was set against those figures & perceived spend of others
Then called it a TOP 8 BUDGET .
For 2 SEASONS FAILURE HAS Happened .
A TOP 2 BUDGET allows The 1 In charge to fill
His team wirh what he wants in June/ July .
We start with a Squad that will win promotion ,
even if we fail to be in the top 2 sucess is assured as
Top 3 go up & at the very minimum we get to play offs .

spare a thought for Lingy the next time you scrutinise his role & perhaps look at other factors like someone forgot to wear there lucky pants or claiming a top 8 budget, or lucky socks or etc etc .

If either of you can find any posts you think could lead someone who’s in a powerful job at a football club and is well aware of the level of scrutiny involved. And by his own account, it doesn’t bother him. Then I’ll apologise and reign in my words.
But I don’t believe I have and the accusation of being a bully is a very serious one, especially when coupled with the fact I could be personally to blame is Martin takes his life. Without anything to back that up, it’s frankly disgusting and the fact you seem to be backing it is unsurprising, but no less disgusting

I guess Tuffers must have some incriminating photos of the moderators because he seems to get a free pass to do what he wants on this board.

I get that people take it to far. But that’s never me imo. It’s always an opinion purely on his ability of his job. If we can’t scrutinise or share opinions of players or staff (in a respectful way) then what’s the point of the forum really? Especially if you’re going to be accused of potentially factoring into ending someone’s life. That’s more responsibility than I want to take for sharing an opinion on someone’s role at my club. Again, if you can find anything you think goes beyond the line then please let me know. I’ll apologise unreservedly. But really not sure I feel comfortable on the board if you cannot freely express non abusive opinions.
