The policeMAN not ‘the police’ or are all people in blue uniform the same to you?Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Sat Jul 27, 2024 8:13 pm Nothing there that justifies kicking a restrained man in the head, this isn't some kind of 'Gotcha' moment. Both the Police and those assaulting them in that clip should face the repercussions they deserve.

You could have added that these nice geezers also broke the jaw of a policewoman. That would have spoilt the narratives of Maxy & his ilk. Also if these rogues had got hold of the weapons of the armed officers, that they had done over & started shooting the filming bystanders, I wonder what the public would have said about that?
Had to many of these today lad?

Re: To Serve and Protect
The head-kicking officer will still be required to justify his use of force. But I have almost zero sympathy for these thugs that attacked the police, and they're lucky that a tazering/kicking is all they got. They even elbowed their own mother in the face.

If this had happened in America there would have been no head kicks because they would have been shot dead, maybe it’s time to fully arm the Police

This is part of the problem. The troublemakers took full advantage of the restraint shown by the police and it was feared that the troublemakers could have got hold of the arms

Is throwing the first punch and kicking and stomping on the head of a member of the public showing restraint?
I'm not surprised you are supporting fascist bully boy tactics.

Re: To Serve and Protect
The problem was started by one of the assailants resisting arrest. The situation then got out of hand as some members of both parties lost their tempers.
The first punch was thrown by one of the assailants.

Yes they are but showed restraint went for tasers rather than their guns American police go for their guns if anyone resists arrest shoot then ask questions.Adz wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 12:15 pmAren't airport police already fully armed?B.whitehouse+10more wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 11:42 amIf this had happened in America there would have been no head kicks because they would have been shot dead, maybe it’s time to fully arm the Police

Re: To Serve and Protect
I think British police need to follow the American style of releasing all footage from incidents straight away to avoid these clips that clearly only show part of an incident that supports a particular view but somehow still dupes people.
Also people are rightly saying the police officer needs to be accountable for their actions but for some reason everyone else just gets a pass. If they hadn’t kicked off initially would it have gone that way? Who knows maybe the policeman would have peacefully arrested them and then still booted them in the head but I doubt it.

Re: To Serve and Protect
There is a video online which shows a police trying to aggressively arrest a suspect and in doing so bangs his head against a wall.J1MB0B wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 5:12 pm I think British police need to follow the American style of releasing all footage from incidents straight away to avoid these clips that clearly only show part of an incident that supports a particular view but somehow still dupes people.

The suspect reacts. Three police get leathered.
Tasers are deployed after which a police goes berserk and kicks and jumps on a suspects head.
Re: To Serve and Protect
So why does he smack the 2 female police if the male was the one using excessive force? He has no accountability for his actions and is free to punch anyone?

The guy is almost certainly going to go to jail. That is obviously how he should be held to account for his actions. The police don't exist to mete out eye for an eye treatment, holding them to account is how you stop them using a badge to break the law themselves.

...and, the police should be held to the highest of standards. That's the job. They don't get paid enough for it, but being able maintain your composure under pressure and not bring the force into disrepute is necessary.

Re: To Serve and Protect
Correct and the officer in question will have to justify their use of force based on their honestly held belief at the time it was used
Saying you’re certain he’ll get time based on a few second edited video clip and a fuzzy cctv video is quite a stretch though

Apparently they've also ditched that grievance-grift lawyer. I bet the new lawyer is advising them to get some contrition indicators up now in advance of a trial and sentencing.

Re: To Serve and Protect
If the police had tried to make the arrest in a normal non aggressive fashion none of this would have happened.
The arresting police guy went in strong and deliberately banged perp 1's head against a wall, thus provoking self defence measures during which time the other police coming to assist said agggressive arresting police got leathered.
And yes the perps are accountable for their unlawful actions, to the extent they were actually unlawful and not justified by self defence.
The best solution is for both sides to call it a draw and move on.
