There is a difference in that police offices are paid to uphold the law and have powers of arrest. That said, I am sure that the honest and reliable officers are thoroughly angry at others who bring the service into massive disrepute. (Am I correct in thinking that the officer who was convicted of the dreadful killing when he kidnapped the victim in Clapham is considering an appeal??)

I don't usually agree with Thor, but he's got this one right.

I suspect that the Met's lack of willingness to investigate clear breaches of the law where they were actually present has done much, much more to undermine them amonst those who generally respect the police (and the challenges they face) than the actions of individual officers which always make the front pages.
