Schools have been distributing vouchers/ cards.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 11:47 am Personally I find it difficult to believe that kids are going hungry- mainly because i grew up fairly poor but did not go hungry, I'm sure it happens though. I know some teachers and have heard some horror stories of what is found in lunchboxes.
I think what people disagree on is what is the solution to it. Can parents somehow be forced to provide? Probably not realistic in our liberal society, so the easier way is to provide a meal.
I really dont know how it is done. Is the school setup like a soup kitchen during the holidays or something? Is it breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Veiled threat? I'm not threatening you, I'm just pointing out that blokes like you, in your 50s/60s, spout off online and spout off when you have your other divvy mates around you in the workplace. You do not have a monopoly on care for children. You are getting too emotional. I care about starving kids but do not think dishing out endless money help s anything long term. Parenting skills are vital. More needs to be invested in this aspect.
Endless money? I suppose you were alright with the government dishing out that money so we could all have cheap meals in August. You're an absolute clown.

You managed to turn a thread about free schools meals into 'remoaners', 'migrants' and 'Blair'. Are you sure it is 'lefty's' providing all the unnecessary bluster?*
And you called me a bigot and couldn't qualify it.
*Although talking of which even Nigel Farage has said this is mean and cruel.

Make up your mind fella
6 months ago there was only Universal Credit
Over 18 months since Unemployment benefit stopped
It is now called job Seekers Allowence.
There are two types.
The first on is non means tested and everyone will get this irrespective of their savings etc
This will last for 6 months and you then move onto Universal credit, which means anybody with over 16k will get nothing.
Hope thaT clears that up.

Well then, why haven't you got rid of it? You said this a few pages ago. You're not working currently. For the record, I don't think you should have to get rid of it either, particularly as you need it for DWP commitments. I'm just interested why it's one rule for you and not for others.

This is totally correct.
A loaf of Bread at Lidl’s is 45p
4 pints of milk £1.09
500 g minced beef £1.49
500 g Pasta 28 p.
Box of Cornflakes 50 p
And people still believe that they can’t afford to get by?
We seem to forget that the Welfare state was brought in out so citizens didn’t starve,
This does not entitle you to own any luxuries like a mobile phone etc.
That’s for people who go to work.

Re: Rashford - Free Meals
Reminder:- Rashford wants free school meals for hungry kids. This is what this thread is about. It is boring when people have private wars on here. Telling each other how much they get or don't get. The Immoderator doesn't see how kids can be hungry in this day and age. I've tried to explain to him that kids don't get to choose their parents. It takes Social Services a long time to remove kids from dysfunctional parents. Even longer, when the parents are well meaning but have a learning disability. Prestige Worldwide, volunteer to foster for a while maybe your eyes will be opened. But please stick to the thread title. kids are important.

J.S.A technically does not exist any more ,it all now falls under the umbrella U.C
Still thats splitting hairs .
As for getting nothing
Why should someone with a huge amount of savings be claiming
"Dole " from the government & be unhappy ?
Regardless of how much has been paid in to the system from 1977
or any other year for that matter .
When you need i you'll be entitled to it .

Is a win-win not possible here? Put the hungry kids to work doing stuff that nobody else wants to, and in return they get three hot meals a day. It would also mean we'd no longer be so reliant on China and other countries for cheap manufacturing.

This is the equivalent to someone going to work and earning 39 k.
A heck of a lot of people get a lot less than that for working.
Do you intend on getting a job?

Do you intend on getting a job?
My mum received £1350 for her pension &
her high rate of disability living allowance ,
She also got £600 odd for housing benefit for her rent .
Also demolished a small pot of savings i had .
I slept on a sofa for 2 & a half years whilst looking after her &
Got £500 a month for Income support & a carers allowance .
Which all stopped in the january of 2019.
For 7 weeks i got the £500 still , then end of march it dropped to £261 after deductions
Should have been £380 odd .
Lord knows what it would have cost the state to do it & to be fair
With all the cuts made , i didnt fancy leabing her in the hands of
those sho might not take it seriously.
I intend to get a job once i have been evicted from her flat &
find out where im going . Thats all on hold due to covid though .

Should also be expected to pay for the loans the
government are getting to get people through various
lockdowns & payouts to the workers in years to come ?
