Rashford - Free Meals / 4p breakfast

Post by Thor »

I heard on he radio earlier today and have since read that the commons voted down extending free meals for pupils. How can the clowns that voted that down sleep well at night, it’s an absolute disgrace. No one should live in poverty in this country, no child should go without food and especially in this mad world we currently live in help should be extended and more arms wrapped around people that need help and support.

I’m fuming and I’m going to be writing to my mp to complain and ask he makes representation to the minister responsible and even lobby the pm.

Time for action people, hopefully a few more of you will reach out to your mp and show your disgust at this turn of events.

Who is with me?

My local MP is a fanny - not sure she’d spare 10p if there was 25 kids on the street on Xmas day, starving to death, never mind lobbying the PM. Something needs to change, but it won’t as long as our society is as selfish as it is.

Depend on what you call poverty.
A bowl of Porridge is 7p and kids get sent to school starving?
You can cook a meal from scratch at little cost.
This by the way is from a life long Labour voter.

People who cannot afford to feed their children should not have children.

There has been in existence contingencies in place post war means to support families in need , the benefit system. What do people do with this money?

At what point does the state stop nursing people ? Some parental responsibility is required at some point. Rashford is being put up by Lefty Remoaning bigots for their own political agenda.

It is all very well saying that feckless people shouldn't have kids and that there is no logical reason why kids should be hungry in the UK in this day and age; but they are and that is a fact. You can hardly blame kids under the age of 14 for being hungry can you? Should we all blame toddlers? The last time a nation in Europe tried to do something radical about people who don't " fit-in " we went to war with them. I am surprised at the amount of Fascists in the UK. Perhaps they don't realise how reactionary their beliefs are . In this time of turmoil, surely we should show more compassion.

Typical lefty retort, bigoted and without justification. Just like Raynor yesterday in the Commons. Funny how homelessness and child poverty seemingly grew after 1997 when Blair was elected. He of course now has a property portfolio of circa 100 million quid. Opened the floodgates to let in millions into the UK , many economic migrants. There have been and always will be families who cannot budget their money prudently. There are sufficient safeguards in place and a welfare system in place to protect children. Parental responsibility is the key.

If people on benefits cannot afford a bowl of porridge or a tray of 15 eggs, Iceland (1.49p) and a loaf bread M&S 65p, what are they spending their Welfare money on? The are entitle you Housing Benefit, Council Tax relief and numerous other allowances. Cigarettes , alcohol, latest Mobile Phone, £25 takeaway pizza deals? You can buy a whole chicken for £3 at M&S or buy the same at Nando’s for £20. All about educating people to budget wisely. We cannot wet nurse another generation of snowflakes.

Why would I not? Name calling is weakening your argument. Parents should feed their own children. Why should people expect others to feed them? I came from a large family but my parents did without to put food on the table. No holidays, no car, they managed though. We never starved.

No, when parents go in a shop they walk past the booze and fags, and instead buy a packet of porridge and some milk.

Exactly. Perhaps if the parents gave up their mobile phone contracts or stopped smoking, they could afford to give them some buttered toast as well.
