I have been out of work for 10 months. So yes,I know the price and value of everything.
6 Months dole money at 73.10 pw. Now because I had the sense to put something by for a rainy day I get nothing.
You still haven’t answered the question.
*Ability not sense.

Because you had the ability to put something away for a rainy day. Everyone wants to save. You were in a position to put away at least £16,000. Correct? Not everyone is. But, I still think you should be being looked after better.

Hope you find something soon and good luck to you.
Sense not ability.
I bought a Vauxhall Cavalier in 1999 and used it for work everyday and have still got it. 250 k on the clock.
Paid my mortgage off 10 years ago.
I did these on a average wage and tried not to waste a penny on a load of unnecessary rubbish.
Did you start driving when you were 5 Cavalier ?
As you said earlier you get £73.10 a week Universal credit ,
Universal Credit for an under 25 is actually £79.08 a week

If you are over 25 it is £94.59

Were you the only 5 year old mortgage payer in the history of the world &
Driver of a cavalier in 1999 not driving on an adult licence

Understood and fair point politico. Not sure biggsy getting so emotional helps though. He/she needs to separate what a person does day to day to help those that need help and their views on any type of state intervention. Personally, the idea of the state intervening regarding staples like food makes me shudder. However I am fortunate enough to just shudder and I don’t need that help so I get both sides of the argument.

The interesting thing about this argument though is that is makes both sides shudder. Neither really wants it. It would be perfect if we didn't need it at all.

However, I cannot think of a much better use of tax payers money.

Not Universal credit this was Unemployment benefit.

No need to get personal, Biggsy. I dont understand why they would turn their backs on other kids if they were on free school meals.

I was also on free school meals, not that it bad, I go the same crap food as everyone else, more a pain of going to get the actually dinner ticket and some people looking down their nose. But I might not have been able to eat because of them, so i'm grateful and hope as many kids that need them can use them. I just dont understand selfishness in our society, never have and never will.
I don't give a f***. They're absolute scumbags with no empathy and I'll treat them as such.
It’s nothing to do with empathy. It’s whether you believe it’s the job of the state to feed people. These are entrenched political views and nothing whatsoever to do with how kind and generous someone is or isn’t.
Its the job of the state to make sure children aren’t going hungry. It has everything to do with empathy, everything.

Is the the job of the state to provide for old people with dementia? Isn't my fault they can't do anything for themselves.

Only old people with dementia that have 'paid into the system' significantly, I'd suspect Biggsy. Definitely none that had periods of unemployment. Leave those one's to sort themselves out.

Personally I find it difficult to believe that kids are going hungry- mainly because i grew up fairly poor but did not go hungry, I'm sure it happens though. I know some teachers and have heard some horror stories of what is found in lunchboxes.

I think what people disagree on is what is the solution to it. Can parents somehow be forced to provide? Probably not realistic in our liberal society, so the easier way is to provide a meal.

I really dont know how it is done. Is the school setup like a soup kitchen during the holidays or something? Is it breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Difference is, I'd make all the noise to your face. People like you seek out people with similar views and then spout them with backup. Your opinions are based on nothing but hate and selfishness, my opinions are built on facts and empathy.

You do not know what my views are based on so do not try being a fortune teller. As for saying things to faces I have the courage of my convictions and am quite open about my views. You sound like you are making a veiled threat of some sort. Give up.

You do not have a monopoly on care for children. You are getting too emotional. I care about starving kids but do not think dishing out endless money help s anything long term. Parenting skills are vital. More needs to be invested in this aspect.
