Okay, feel like you’ve taken this too seriously. I thought it would be a lighthearted bit of fun to deliberately misunderstand your mention of this incident on a thread that’s intended to be about nostalgic or wholesome aspects of a day out down the O’s.The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 6:57 pmI didn’t say that a bloke getting arrested on suspicion of racially abusing a Colchester United player was a “joyful experience”, I was merely checking if we were thinking about the same person. Not sure why the incident was brought up mind, I just like hearing the catchphrase about the fanzine as I enter the ground.

Re: Orient experiences
You’re not sure why an incident when a blokes abusive behaviour was so bad he got arrested is bought up when you start a thread telling everyone how listening to said bloke wander around the ground bellowing at people is part of a jolly match experience?GibbO wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 8:34 pmOkay, feel like you’ve taken this too seriously. Re: Orient experiences
Seeing as you bought this up, why does the club give a bloke free rein to wander all corners of the ground to sell an unofficial publication? What’s all that about? Seems a bit amateur hour to me.GibbO wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 9:47 pmSeperate the art from the artist. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 9:34 pmYou’re not sure why an incident when a blokes abusive behaviour was so bad he got arrested is bought up when you start a thread telling everyone how listening to said bloke wander around the ground bellowing at people is part of a jolly match experience?GibbO wrote: ↑Sat May 10, 2025 8:34 pm

Give him a break. We all make mistakes. Some make typos when writing out peoples names, others get so worked up at football matches that their generic verbal abuse gets interpreted as racial abuse.
We’re all human.

I agree, always flawed. Some people hear a man advertise his fanzine and the sentence becomes a staple of their experience at a football club and they then become interested in hearing what sort of things other people hear/see/smell/feel that are synonymous with their O’s experience. The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 8:52 amGive him a break. Others hijack that thread as a means to shoehorn a personal grudge against someone into conversation, even after a great day out at said club.

There was no racist abuse. Fans around Mr R***r confirmed this to the club including several black fans.

Re: Orient experiences
It’s annoying when you try to do something and somebody else is disruptive. A bit like going to watch a football match and some bloke near you is so abusive he gets himself arrested.GibbO wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 9:41 amI agree, always flawed. When you put it like that I see your angle. It’s hard because you’ve only had 3 years to let it go.The Reverend wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 11:43 amIt’s annoying when you try to do something and somebody else is disruptive.
