Honour amongst thieves?
But yeah, I get your point. Trump would need to keep Putin sweet - maybe he'll give him Greenland?

Living a mere 17 miles from the nuclear base at Faslane I'm not going to waste my money on an Anderson shelter.BoniO wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 2:32 pmMakes sense. Trump giving Putin what he wants in exchange for him keeping out of any conflict between China and the US seems probable. It also helps Trump to have Europe in turmoil over security from Russian territorial infringements too. Anyone got a second hand Anderson Shelter for sale?Max B Gold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 1:57 pm An interesting read from an actual journalist driven out of the BBC for trying to do his job properly.

Sounds like you need a sturdy kitchen table to take shelter under. The late Jimmy Reids granddaughter no less. But yes bizarre. Its like she doesn't listen when Corbo denounces Putin and was doing it long before it became fashionable.

That post by Joani Reid is ridiculous, and it may be explained slightly by the fact her seat is at risk from the SNP, so she needs to raise her profile.
But may be a slight legacy of Corbyn's idiotic suggestion, following the Salisbury poisoning, to entrust the Russians to investigate rather than accept the conclusions of the UK Government. He certainly wasn't denouncing Putin then.

Oh yeah, that was when Stop The War effectively admitted they were sponsored by hostile foreign governments.

Corbo did himself no favours with they way he handled the poisonings. But its actually possible to want to stop the war and denounce Putin. Which was his position.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 6:36 am That post by Joani Reid is ridiculous, and it may be explained slightly by the fact her seat is at risk from the SNP, so she needs to raise her profile.

To bury ones head in the sand and deny NATO expansion was a factor in the invasion ignores the facts and in doing so hinders a resolution of the conflict.

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
So you think countries shouldnt be allowed to setup to defend themselves (against russian invasion) in case it upsets Russia?

Not everything I post is my thinking but an attempt to add some understanding to the complexity instead of the yaboo instinct to take sides without any real understanding of the facts.
That and a mission to create an MB equivalent to the Theatre of the Absurd.

So I guess it really annoys Vlad and Jeremy if you attempt to defend yourself from invasion?

Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
Finland and Sweden joined NATO as a direct result of the Ukraine invasion, so despite Vlad's assertion that The Special Military Operation is going exactly to plan, I'm not so sure

Vlad is ragin' but much less so these days after cementing an alliance with leading NATO member, the Good Ole US of A. Despite being less than pro American I suspect Jeremy is a bit annoyed by that. I know I am.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:11 am So I guess it really annoys Vlad and Jeremy if you attempt to defend yourself from invasion?

An interesting, and unsettling theory (for Europeans especially): www.noahpinion.blog/p/america-is-being-sold-out-by-itsDunners wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:14 pm However, the US's muscle flexing over North, Central and some Southern American countries could make sense if it has already concluded to rapidly on-shore all of its industrial and agricultural needs onto the home continent. Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
Not sure I buy this as there is no version of the future where Russia dominates Europe, even with it's leadership fragmented. It's population, economy and military are dwarfed by Europe. It's taken years to capture a segment of a dirt poor, much smaller neighbour. There is zero chance it could deal with just Poland.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:34 pmAn interesting, and unsettling theory (for Europeans especially): www.noahpinion.blog/p/america-is-being-sold-out-by-itsDunners wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:14 pm However, the US's muscle flexing over North, Central and some Southern American countries could make sense if it has already concluded to rapidly on-shore all of its industrial and agricultural needs onto the home continent. Of course it won’t happen . Russia knows the consequences of attacking a NATO country the same as the rest of the world.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:52 pmNot sure I buy this as there is no version of the future where Russia dominates Europe, even with it's leadership fragmented. Re: Russia / Ukraine Watch
Completely agree re Russia. But that doesn't rule out that this could be the Trumipian strategy regardless. Only, a Europe left to fend for itself, could soon start to see the emergence of age old disputes.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 1:52 pmNot sure I buy this as there is no version of the future where Russia dominates Europe, even with it's leadership fragmented.
