Well, you call it biting, when it's really just a bit of fun. We all know Dohnut is a dumb-arse troll but sometimes it's good to point out just how stupid he is. What's your reason for re-posting that he's on a Wum as if it's new news?Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:45 pmYou must enjoy itBoniO wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:28 pmYou're literally repeating what's been said many times before and still you do itCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:09 pm He literally itemised how he’s WUMing a few hours ago and still they bite

I definitely want good news. Why wouldn’t I. I don’t give a toss about the party running the country, just want some progress, or at least signs of progress even during difficult times. Starmer and his crew are screwing up big time and in record time. I hope they rid themselves of the L plates sooner rather than later. Who in their right minds want to be heading for a recession.BoniO wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2024 1:58 pmOf course. You've always been even-handed with praise and criticism. Because, if there's one thing everyone in London and Essex agrees on, it's that we just don't need those police officers due to the sheer lack of crime blighting our communities.

Maybe they can all become builders. Not enough of those to meet the building targets we have. Mind you, with so many anticipated job losses elsewhere it’s a cunning plan to increase numbers in the building trade. Should be trained in 2/3 years.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 6:57 pm Labour cuts mean we’ll be getting thousands of police officers cut in London and hundreds in Essex depending on where you live

Maybe you should have read the articles before spewing out more garbage Dohnut, old chap. See below from the Met Commissioner:
The capital’s top officer insisted Scotland Yard had run out of ways to plug funding gaps and he was “deeply troubled” by the situation it was facing.
“This is not just about this year’s decisions, but it’s a cumulative effect of decisions over the last decade or so which have put us in a more and more precarious position,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Political Thinking with Nick Robinson.

Re: Labour Watch
Latest report dated 13th December 2024 warns of issues facing the force next year with current funding projections expected to simply cover expected increased costs. Despite NI costs being covered.
The issue being the latest objectives set by the current Government need more funding if they are to be met. In fact many jobs may be lost despite this being a priority area for the Government.
The issue is that the Government are making promises that the budgets do not match. Irrespective of any past cuts, this is a current issue whereby one thing is being promised as a priority yet funding is insufficient to meet that priority. Going forward!
The cuts are being projected for 2025. Let’s hope Cooper stumps up more cash soon.
Policing staff has increased, slowly, over the past few years. The police uplift program which ended in 2023 which aimed to recruit 20,000 officers. This of course follows a slump from 2010 onwards. 117k in 2018 now 142k. Back to the levels prior to the financial crash.

Tories decimated numbers then tried an uplift but were only partially successful due to also damaging pay and conditions.
The current shortfall is on Labour to plug as they are in charge now.

Wow - you seem to know more about this issue than the Commissioner of the Met! He thinks the issue goes back a decade or more i.e. NOT just a current issue. Maybe you should have a word with him.Dohnut wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 11:47 pm Latest report dated 13th December 2024 warns of issues facing the force next year with current funding projections expected to simply cover expected increased costs. Re: Labour Wa
The stats show numbers dropped post financial crisis, the Tories grappling with no money. For the next 7 or 8 years numbers dropped alarmingly. A bad time following the Global Financial Crisis. By 2018 numbers hit their lowest point for years. Little credit to go round. Let’s hope those times don’t return.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 9:51 amOnly fair way to judge numbers is by head of population really.Dohnut wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 11:47 pm Latest report dated 13th December 2024 warns of issues facing the force next year with current funding projections expected to simply cover expected increased costs. Effort was made to restore numbers and by 2023 were a little above pre-crisis. Are these numbers good enough? Is there enough money? The police, like unions and others, always want more. Looking after their own. Why not! They applied pressure on the Tories and are doing exactly the same to Labour.
The issue going forward is simple, Government have set objectives and need to fund them. Cooper has set objectives but has yet to sufficiently cover the direct and indirect cost increases the police (everyone) will face going forward following the budget. A consequence being in 2025, cuts rather than increases are being forecast.
The current issues are purely on the current Government. Talk is cheap. Unless they are backed up with sufficient funding it’s not going to end well.
