Watched it and it was OK. Redmayne isn't a very good baddie.Dunners wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 12:53 pm New series of Day of the Jackal is, to my surprise, good. It doesn't try to recreate the film, but is a short series influenced by the book. I've watched three of the five episodes, so hopefully it doesn't tank in the final two, but so far this one is recommended.

But he's a rather good 'Edward Fox' . Many of the little mannerisms and looks are nods to the original film.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 11:40 amWatched it and it was OK. I thought the Kneecap film on Amazon Prime was pretty funny if not quite worthy of some of the lavish praisenits received.

I just finished the 1st series of Wolf Hall and I really enjoyed it. Mark Rylance is bloody brilliant in everything he does, and this is no exception.
Started 2nd Series last night and it seems to be just as good (and the substitutions at half time seem to be working out well)

Nice one. This was a play we studied for English O Grade wouldn't mind seeing it, but looks like it ends on 23 Nov.

It does, but he does a lot of plays like this in the West End. I've seen him several times now in the last few years.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
I've now watched it. Definitely a really good series. Everyone went into this on the basis that Colin Farrell would turn in a brilliant performance. He did but, for me, Cristin Milioti totally stole the show. An absolutely incredible performance from her, for which she deserves awards.
I also only just realised that I first saw her In The Sopranos, playing the daughter of Johnny and Ginny (don't mention her arse) Sack.

Was also about to post about Penguin, as finished it last night. As per Dunnem, Milioti was excellent, both lead actors were fantastic and the whole thing ticked along brilliantly. Thoroughly enjoyable spin-off, with room for more without being reliant on any DC crossovers or the like (although: spoiler, a letter mentioning someone right at the end who featured in The Batman suggests there might be a bit of that to come).

The flashback episode that just completely changes how you view Sofia is excellent.
Also credit to the actor playing young Oz, he nailed it

My Brilliant Friend, re-watching S3 before the 4th and final season which has just dropped.
Can't recommend the whole series enough. Brilliant on so many levels.

Gladiator II- well it could've been a lot worse. There were too many animals in it and the sound track is not a patch on the first and the ending was a bit limp. The story was fine, i quite enjoyed the twins and denzel.

Chimp Crazy- documentary series about a woman who keeps Chimps as pets, in a battle with Peta. These people are nuts. It was alright, no Tiger King though. (same maker)

Half watched Rivals with Mrs PJ. Was very ready to roll my eyes but it was actually great fun. David Tennant was having an absolute ball and Danny Dyer is a genuine joy in almost everything he does these days.

Mrs FTC has binged Black Doves on Netflix. She’s says it’s “alright”.
I have no idea having read a book instead.

Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Watching E1 of Black Doves and Ben Whishaw goes into a guitar shop and starts taking to the guy that runs it. I think, is that......., so I check on IMDB and it is. Won't spoil it for those of a certain age. Enjoy
