Klopp's new role
Just seen a post on socials welcoming Klopp to his new role at RB and it got me thinking, if that group came along tomorrow to take the club over and invest into it as RB Orient would you take it?
Say they financed a new ground and players sourced from within the RB group but with the trade-off of branding etc. changing, would you take the money or stay as-is?

No - wouldn't be Orient any more.

Can we not just sell up to Disney TV & get rid of Welcome to Wrexham & say a hello to a Lifetime of Leyton Orient?

Re: Klopp's new role
The evidence of the last decade or so at Orient (and other Clubs) suggests that the overwhelming majority of fans would go along with anything so long as money was getting spaffed on their Club.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 5:13 pm Just seen a post on socials welcoming Klopp to his new role at RB and it got me thinking, if that group came along tomorrow to take the club over and invest into it as RB Orient would you take it?

Multi club ownership is rank, the idea of being part of any feeder system of clubs wouldn't sit right at all.

Re: Klopp's new role
I’d love it, some succes would be a beautiful thing and so long as we maintained Orient in the name that’s all that matters
We don’t really have an affinity with Leyton and the club has moved around and not always been based in E10. Orient is the only constant throughout and that could be the case if we were RB Orient playing in front of 20,000 fans in Romford or Harlow in the Championship

Re: Klopp's new role
Easy decision really. Anyone turning their nose up at this is just being pretentious.
Got to accept that the times change and if you don't change with them, then you get left behind. Lots of fans would be up for this. Even if they won't admit it to themselves.

Re: Klopp's new role
I think I wouldn't necessarily be against at inception, but would inadvertently lose interest quite quickly.
Harlow or Romford smacks of an MK Dons-esque switch in so far as all connection with E10 (or E5 as formerly) is gone.
It would just be a new club, that happened to be called 'Orient' - - doubtless that would be enough for some.
However not to worry - even *if RB were interested, I'm sure they'd have a good look at it and decide better options lay elsewhere. I get the OP only asked the question hypothetically of course.

Just hypothetically it'd be an interesting one though, a fairly cheap London club that's in a position for rebranding in a different stadium, only two hops away from the Prem riches. Technically easier than what they did with the German side who were 5th tier so Wikipedia tells me.

Depends how they ran the club. They would probably be better than a lot of chancers with money looking to move into football

Look how - most of - our fanbase lapped up Bechetti and his entourage when that hit our club 10 years ago. They were happy to ignore all the nonsense that came with it for an enhanced playing budget.

Re: Klopp's new role
A great many of them right up until the point he finally scarpered after the LOFT protest in November 2016. Some even continued to defend him after that, and even blamed LOFT for chasing him away. There is no love like that which some football fans have for rich idiots.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 6:55 amThis.OyinbO wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 6:40 pmThe evidence of the last decade or so at Orient (and other Clubs) suggests that the overwhelming majority of fans would go along with anything so long as money was getting spaffed on their Club.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 5:13 pm Just seen a post on socials welcoming Klopp to his new role at RB and it got me thinking, if that group came along tomorrow to take the club over and invest into it as RB Orient would you take it?

Plus the constant bleeting about the owners putting more money in this season.OyinbO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 8:03 amA great many of them right up until the point he finally scarpered after the LOFT protest in November 2016. Correct . As a general rule the clubs with all the money are at the top and the clubs that haven't are at the bottom . I'd rather Orient were at the topOyinbO wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 6:40 pmThe evidence of the last decade or so at Orient (and other Clubs) suggests that the overwhelming majority of fans would go along with anything so long as money was getting spaffed on their Club.gshaw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 5:13 pm Just seen a post on socials welcoming Klopp to his new role at RB and it got me thinking, if that group came along tomorrow to take the club over and invest into it as RB Orient would you take it?

Guess this marks out the difference between people who follow football and consider its just about winning at all costs and hang the ethics or consequences and those who still believe it's about something else. For those that fall into the latter camp, don't really understand why they don't just support another team.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 9:51 amCorrect . Re: Klopp's new role
Not just defending him. Defending the things and the people he brought in. That f*cking tv show. That silly sausage who was a QS by trade or something but faking it as an ex player. All fine aparently, when backed up by £££s.OyinbO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 8:03 amA great many of them right up until the point he finally scarpered after the LOFT protest in November 2016. Re: Klopp's new role
I'm in the "win at all costs" camp as that's what professional sport is all about. I really couldn't care less for the "community" ethos thing that often gets bandied around as a USP at Orient.Proposition Joe wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 9:57 amGuess this marks out the difference between people who follow football and consider its just about winning at all costs and hang the ethics or consequences and those who still believe it's about something else. As for why not another team... you don't choose your team it's often passed through family etc. and that doesn't change.
As for the mad Italian, all he had to do was provide the funds and leave the football side well alone and he could've had all the adulation T&T have experienced but his ego was too big, hence ending in a circus. Big money isn't intrinsically bad, it's how the owners spend it and manage the club.
The chance to control our own destiny free of the shackles and money drain that Hearn has placed on the club. Just remember at at, say £300 a pop the first 1000 ST sales go straight into his pocket every seasonThe Reverend wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 10:42 pm What is this bizarre obsession people have with a new stadium?
