A 15-20 goal a season striker is ideal but it doesn't have to be that, number 27 showed that for them, he was the focal point, held up the ball, always an option, made the CB's work, knocked the header back for the goal, brings others into play, Kelman doesn't offer any of that at all.

When you think about it and look back at all the posts saying that once we get Agyei back from injury all our forward problems will be answered......how sentiments have changed!

He was a good outlet for them to hit when they had the ball.essexfootball wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 1:36 pm A 15-20 goal a season striker is ideal but it doesn't have to be that, number 27 showed that for them, he was the focal point, held up the ball, always an option, made the CB's work, knocked the header back for the goal, brings others into play, Kelman doesn't offer any of that at all.
Don't remember him doing too much pressing and winning the ball back tho. (Cooper's brain farts DO NOT count!)

The Agyei of this season so far isn't the same Agyei we had for that period of games last season. Not sure what's changedChief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 5:38 pm When you think about it and look back at all the posts saying that once we get Agyei back from injury all our forward problems will be answered......how sentiments have changed!

Maybe he needs to get injured again so he can come back revitalised.

He played up front for most of his time on the pitch on Tuesday night. He had his most successful period of the game playing wide right.

I still prefer Ethan a little deeper as an 8 where he can get on the ball more.

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
He is on the wing at points because he isn't good enough as a striker, it's a tale as old as time, hard-working striker who can't score, ends up being a hard working winger, jack of all trades, master of none, plays a role but isn't really that good

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
I seem to remember Kelmans first spell started really well when we played him up top and then he couldn’t hit a barn door for 3 months from the wing.
Ageyi is probably better on the wing but he’s too selfish to be really effective there. He wants the ball, run at a defender and get a shot off.

Haven't really see him play there, Galbraith was completely anonymous out wide, so definitely not there

RW does not seem to go for target man type forwards.essexfootball wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 1:36 pm A 15-20 goal a season striker is ideal but it doesn't have to be that, number 27 showed that for them, he was the focal point, held up the ball, always an option, made the CB's work, knocked the header back for the goal, brings others into play, Kelman doesn't offer any of that at all.

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
Agreed I think the problem isn't a target man in the general sense of a Harry Smith etc as such but it needs someone who is around six foot or near enough ish so still mobile, be physical, hold defenders, win some headers, can do a bit of everything, currently and it isn't his fault but Kelman is the target man he is halve the size of the CB, halve the strength and I don't think that good anywaySid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:50 amRW does not seem to go for target man type forwards.essexfootball wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 1:36 pm A 15-20 goal a season striker is ideal but it doesn't have to be that, number 27 showed that for them, he was the focal point, held up the ball, always an option, made the CB's work, knocked the header back for the goal, brings others into play, Kelman doesn't offer any of that at all.

My pre season prediction about us signing a striker during the January transfer window now looks a good bet

“Why don’t we buy a striker who bangs in lots of goals” has strong SuperHans telling Mark that they should pull their finger out and invent a cure for cancer energy

Re: Please buy a striker with a bit of pedigree
RW has a set way of setting a team up and does not think outside the box tactics wise. Chances of him changing to playing a formation which uses a target men type centre forward are rather unlikely.essexfootball wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 12:01 pmAgreed I think the problem isn't a target man in the general sense of a Harry Smith etc as such but it needs someone who is around six foot or near enough ish so still mobile, be physical, hold defenders, win some headers, can do a bit of everything, currently and it isn't his fault but Kelman is the target man he is halve the size of the CB, halve the strength and I don't think that good anywaySid Bishop wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 11:50 amRW does not seem to go for target man type forwards.essexfootball wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 1:36 pm A 15-20 goal a season striker is ideal but it doesn't have to be that, number 27 showed that for them, he was the focal point, held up the ball, always an option, made the CB's work, knocked the header back for the goal, brings others into play, Kelman doesn't offer any of that at all.
