No, I don't think so . It's just that I thought people wanted us to sign two centre midfielders . However if Richie feels we're now covered for midfield then that's OK by me . I'm hoping now we sign another striker to replace Pigott .

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Messaged my mate who is a Toffee’s season ticket holder and mad Everton fan, and this was his response.
I’m absolutely gutted mate, he’s a big blue and I hoped he would make it with us, really surprised we have let Lewis go.
Orient have signed a top player.
He will be a big player for Orient in L1 and will do very well!

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Spoke to a couple of mates earlier who are Everton fans, the general thought was they thought Everton would keep him.
From what I have read and been told this is a good sighning for our level, there is no reason why he can't be equally as good if not better than El Miz.
Onwards and upwards.

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Welcome Lewis Warrington
A very good signing and I’m very happy.
Although, it won’t please everyone, no doubt the usual suspects will be posting usual negative nonsense.
He’s no El Miz, it’s a poor signing, blah blah blah

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
This has Paul Smyth two year loan vibes about it. I really want to know what the point is of not signing promising young players on longer contracts, that’s how Peterborough leverage such decent transfer fees.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 9:20 pm Messaged my mate who is a Toffee’s season ticket holder and mad Everton fan, and this was his response.

That's mizouni's replacement sorted. Just the keeper, 2 full backs and a new no. 10 to go.

What about if he turns out to be sh*t and we’ve got him stuck here until 2027?Mylo Xyloto wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:43 pmThis has Paul Smyth two year loan vibes about it. Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Why are people obsessed with getting a transfer fee for a player we haven’t paid for?

You must be able to set up these contracts with options in the clubs favour. Nigel Travis alluded to deliberately setting contracts up this way.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:29 pmWhat about if he turns out to be sh*t and we’ve got him stuck here until 2027?Mylo Xyloto wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:43 pmThis has Paul Smyth two year loan vibes about it. For a senior pro I think that's a fair cop, get them free and let them go free after 2 years.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 8:30 pm Why are people obsessed with getting a transfer fee for a player we haven’t paid for?
With young players it's a bit different imo, they're not the finished product and the club pays for that in lower performance levels until they develop. At that point you've invested time and effort getting that player to being an asset so you want something to show for it financially if they're not staying to deliver on the pitch.
Travis and Ling have both talked about the 2+1 (third year option in our favour) contract method so wonder if this one has been signed on that basis?

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
But the club benefits from paying a lower fee for that lower performance level.
I don’t disagree with this approach and business model. But I don’t see why fans are getting so het up about it. Whatever money is brought in from selling on players after developing them, is only going to the investors. We’re not going to see a corresponding increase in the playing budget.
If a player comes in for 2 years and develops to the extent that a team from the division above will want them, they’re going to go and we have the same rebuilding task. The only difference if we get a transfer fee is we don’t need as much investment from the next round of investors.

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Yes , my Everton supporting mate at work also said he was a good player . It does seem like Warrington is El-Mizouni's replacement . I'm happy with this signing and think he'll do well . Welcome to Orient Lewis .Gloucester-O wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 9:35 pm Spoke to a couple of mates earlier who are Everton fans, the general thought was they thought Everton would keep him.

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
The last player we sold for decent money was Kyprianou. Not sure the investors took their profit, it went straight back out on Moncur. You won't see a similar type of investment to that made on Moncur unless we get get big money in. That's why fans get het up when good assets go for nothing.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 11:02 pm I don’t disagree with this approach and business model. Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Depends doesn’t it. Recency bias says it was a waste but our goal was to get promotion, and he undeniably played a role in that. And achieving that probably netted the club more than 300kHoover Attack wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 11:35 pm We paid £300k for Moncur?
What a total waste of money.

Re: Lewis Warrington SIGNS!
Hope I’m wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion that RW now sees Warrington as a latter day Ethan Coleman and he’ll be destined for a short stay at the club.
