The (lack of) reward at Championship is an interesting one in context of our investors. On one hand perhaps the thing that would allow them to cash out is the asset of a side one season from the promised land of the Prem riches. On the other hand there's the losses you mention.
So question is if the ground we need to become sustainable will cost 30 million+ and the losses could be 10-20 million a season what are they aiming to do? Or realistically is it the stereotypical rich man's plaything with the guise of investment?
The only way to make any money in the meantime is player sales but we haven't seen a 7 figure fee since 2014 so transfer business will need to improve massively to generate significant sums.

You've obviously not listened to any of Travis's stuff then. He's got people lined up to invest in a project in London that involves building a new stadium amongst other facilities. He can't find anyone who wants to invest where we currently are. He's made it clear that they are working with the borough to find a suitable location, but this stuff all takes a long time. It'll be 5-10 years before they make this a reality, but I think it will happen.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 1:20 pmIt won’t happen this the current board. They’re not going to lump 10s of millions of debt onto Orient to pay for a new stadium that won’t be full.
The demand is barely there for when Orient are good.

Time will tell, but I trust him. It makes sense that someone would invest in a greenfield project in london, rather than a ground limited in options and owned by a third party.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 3:34 amTravis talks bollocks.Adz wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 1:06 amYou've obviously not listened to any of Travis's stuff then. They will find a site and sell the club. This lot don’t have the money.

Oh my days.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 9:27 pm At losses running at c.£2.5m, it means that every bum on every seat occupied at Brisbane Road is being subsidised by the board to the tune of £12-13. We moan when it goes up £2 a game each season - and then cite its the boards reward when we go up and get the higher league's rewards. What reward? The championship loses £20m a club on average. What incentive is there for the board to try and invest for promotion? Very little it seems - especially when some of the people they are doing it for - us - moan about the level of investment and the quality of signings.
The people they are investing for is us???
Their reward in having a Championship club instead of a L1 club is being able to sell it on to someone at a much higher asking price. They are not doing this for us.
(Travis is the only one not here for that reason, being a fan).

Surprised you said that Biggsy thought you were pro Orient? Personally at this point I’m very disappointed in the club, even if they do sign 5/6 players we would have missed out on some very good signings already. After all the rhetoric from the club and Chairman in particular at end of last season and the beginning of this. I won’t be renewing next season if things don’t dramatically improve, once bitten twice shy.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 3:34 amTravis talks bollocks.Adz wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 1:06 amYou've obviously not listened to any of Travis's stuff then. Re: It Seems We Cannot Compete...........
Assuming they're going through pre-season with their current clubs, that's not an issue.
Richie said last week we don't get into tactics in the first 2 weeks so they're only really missing out on the team bonding. If this is a busy week and the majority of the remaining signings are in before we fly off, all is still good....

What a shame we didn't keep up with Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Port Vale, and Carlisle last season eh. Moving quickly really worked for them.

The same could be said about the clubs that went up they brought in players quickly and even Stevenage who were pushing for promotion right up until the end. Evan’s has done it yet again and moved quickly in the market with Rotherham and I’m willing to bet they finish above us. Even Stevenage have been more proactive in the market than we have.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 12:23 pmAs the whiners on here constantly mewl; we're so slow to do our business we are likely one of the last in the division to bring in players.Ron Waffle wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 10:34 amWhat if the 5/6 players we sign are better than ones we have already "missed out" on ?Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 10:25 am

Perhaps if you go and stand outside the club or training ground every day, you can whine about it at ML/KT/NT/RW as they're coming and going.. Perhaps wave a Stevenage flag at them to prove your "point".Monkey Boy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 12:30 pmThe same could be said about the clubs that went up they brought in players quickly and even Stevenage who were pushing for promotion right up until the end.
