It was a good one, glad I saw it. Quite right to delete it as it was in reasonably poor taste.

I hope Catherine comes through this trauma. We are being played, though.

Undoubtedly.
Use this as an example of how we are being played?

As far as paintings go, I quite like this one actually.

I'd still send the lot of them to the guillotine, obviously, but at least we'd have some decent artwork to remember them by.

I KNEW this post would be about hands.

But yeah are you not aware of Charlie’s finger issues?

Why do the background that colour?

There could be lots of reasons, aesthetically and symbolically.

I put a neutral overlay on the background, the first thing that becomes clear is that the clothing itself actually *is* part of the background - you can see that there’s lower contrast and definition than you’d expect, even when it isn’t sitting against a background of the same colour.

That being the case, it’s not so much a decision to make the background the same colour as the clothing, it’s as if to say that the clothing - which in the case of a portrait of a monarch is used to represent status - is taking a back seat to the human being - so I guess the artist is trying to say he’s painting the man, not the monarchy

It''s an awful painting . To be fair to CEB his version looks a lot better but I still don't like the painting

I assumed it was blood from centuries of killing dripping from his Royal hands, the Royal sausage fingers unable to contain the flow despite their thickness.

I reckon the artist has f*cked it up somehow, so decided to just cover it up by painting the whole thing red.

It looks like he's already been sent to the guillotine, the severed head floating in a pool of blood. Whilst just off shot, the decapitated lizard body still twitches as it begins the process of growing a new noggin.

Face is wonderful but I keep on being reminded of Sutherland's portrait of Winston Churchill, one that Churchill disliked so much he never hung it anywhere and eventually destroyed it. We'll probably never know what Charles really thinks of it.

Monarchs have always commissioned portraits, it's standard practice for these ****s.
