The point is the system ( I do not agree with it- he should be locked up forever) aims to rehabilitate, however many crimes a person commits. I believe in capital punishment for the most exceptional horrific murders and acts of terrorism.
The system as it stands though is to continually aim for rehabilitation.

Perhaps I am, But how ? Ralph Bulgers impact statement on venables child porn addiction isnt relevant to his 2017 charges. It would of been far more impactful before his release in 2001 on lifelong licence for venables 1993 charges of murder wouldnt it ?Long slender neck wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:49 pmPerhaps you are wrong?Joe315 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 1:08 pmWhy would Ralph Bulgers impact statement matter to Venbles going back to Jail for chid porn ? Locked up forever in his case and those juveniles who commit the most heinous crimes like murder.
In the instances concerning adults yes execution especially in examples like the Sarah Everard murder. We cannot execute children but can keep them incarcerated like we should have the evil Mary Bell who killed as a child. The Krays should have been seen to meet Pierspoint at the gallows without doubt instead of making them folk heroes.

Re: Woke watch.
A Roman emperor was trans, Hertfordshire museum declares. The council-run North Hertfordshire Museum has decided to be “sensitive” to the purported pronoun preferences of the 3rd-century AD ruler Elagabalus.
The Roman Emperor will be treated as a transgender woman and referred to as “she”.
Elagabalus has been given female pronouns on the basis of classical texts that claim he asked to be called “lady” - but historians believe these accounts may simply have been a typical Roman attempt at character assassination.

Re: Woke watch.
"As with the recent Covid-19 pandemic, social and economic environment played a significant role in people's health and this is most likely why we find more people of colour and those of black African descent in plague burials."
This seems self explanatory, surely reporting this with an emphasis on race is just baiting people? The article says only 35000 people died in London during the Plague so how many of those were Black African? What do they hope to achieve with this kind of thing? Even people who agree it's important to look at structural inequality, current or historical, are just rolling their eyes.

Re: Woke watch.
This has now got me worried that black trans people may have been disproportionately harmed by "problematic language" and "structural racism" during the Peloponnesian War between 431 and 404 BC. The least we can do it take the knee in a gender neutral way as a sign of respect.

Of course The Guardian had to regurgitate the article. This is what the racial grievance industry amounts to - clicks for ads.

I don’t understand why people seem so upset with these discoveries being reported? I find it fascinating.

What’s fascinating about it? As PJ articulated above, it’s an obvious outcome framed weirdly

This gets better. I had wondered how the hell they had identified which of the recovered skeletons were black women of African ancestry. There was nothing in the BBC article to explain that, but The Guardian has offered further information.Dunners wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 9:31 am Of course The Guardian had to regurgitate the article. Re: Woke watch.
It is incredible when you stop to think of it, that we’ve got to a place where phrenology is happily used in order to make an ostensibly progressive point, while similarly progressives will look at Roman ideas of male people who don’t measure up to that periods idea of masculinity and be like “well if he wasn’t seen as manly, he can’t have been a man then can he? Simple!”
