As for the boarder on here saying that as long as it doesn’t impact the pitch the game should go on, I will assume this is said in ignorance of how bleak witnessing someone receive CPR actually is. It’s 1,000 times worse with a football match going on at the same time.

So, assuming he almost certainly didn’t why isn’t it a good look? If he thought it was fans just protesting something then why wouldn’t he tell them to get off?The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:03 pmAlmost certainly he didn’t, but it really doesn’t look good.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:59 pmGotta assume Wellens didn’t know the fans were doing it for that reason though? The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:58 pm

Richie is an honest bloke and I’m sure he’ll apologise if he feels it’s necessary.
Why are we trying to make a bad situation even worse?

To be fair to wellens and Terry, they'd have had no clue what's going on. Hard to judge someone in the heat of the moment when a games going on and they're not informed.

I'd be stunned if he didnt. It was pretty obvious. The game had already been halted for a short period before that. It was when the ref restarted it that the unrest with the crowd escalated.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:59 pmGotta assume Wellens didn’t know the fans were doing it for that reason though? The Reverend wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 9:58 pmWellens standing in front of the Justin Edinburgh stand of all places trying to get a game to continue whilst an Orient fan is receiving CPR in the East stand and supporters are pleading with officials to stop the match is a seriously bad look.

I’m not there but is there any chance this continues? Are fans still in the stands? Has the poor person got a bloody ambulance yet?

Not a dig at all, things happen in the heat of the moment. He was very in the wrong though with how he handled it.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:09 pmCompletely agree. Stadium well less than half full now. Ambulance seems to be outside. Not quite clear to see why they aren't moving towards it.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:10 pm I’m not there but is there any chance this continues? Are fans still in the stands? Tannoy gave an update about ten mins ago saying they'll look to restart the game. Doesn't really feel like the right thing to do honestly but I get logistically it might have to be done.

Re: Exiles Thread.
They only brought the fan to the side of the pitch just as they tried to restart. Have to assume this happens at other grounds and their protocol is to treat away from the pitch. It seems really weird that this is how it has to be handled, both from the perspective of the person who's being treated and allowing the game to finish.Skip wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 10:10 pmNot a dig at all, things happen in the heat of the moment. The protocol definitely needs to be reviewed, soon as the senior Steward or whoever knows there's a serious incident stop the game. The health and welfare of all nearby is more important.

Re: Exiles Thread.
Right decision, hopefully the fun can pull through. Football is absolutely immaterial in a situation like this.

Re: Exiles Thread.
EFL guidance is for games to continue in those situations and let the clubs emergency response plans be carried out. Something went seriously wrong in how that was handled but it's hard to blame the ref or playing staff, these situations are thankfully incredibly rare and difficult to deal with.
