ULEZ generates over 300 million a year

Traffic camera enforcing speed , no entry, red routes , bus lanes etc several millions a year.

I would rather have proper policing as there are those out there who break the law no matter how many cameras are out there.
Ulez brought in £220 million last year, it has never brought in £300 million. Why are you Lying ?

No lies or lies intended. I looked at various estimates on line. Of course no expanded will be a lot more.

Deterring thousands of cars off the roads certainly calms them. Many people have thrown the towel in and given up driving as they cannot afford to drive now. Those who can pay to still pollute and those who forget are raising millions for TFL. As for your roads you are talking about local neighbourhood traffic measures like they have all off the high road Leyton and Leytonstone. They raise money for local authorities as cameras are in place , restricting access at certain times. The thing with the 20MPH restriction is that the road hogs who drive over 30 in a 30 will still do so in a 20. Apart from the odd camera there is nobody enforcing them effectively.

TFL should do more to prevent illegal use of their bus and train services. Some Stations like Leytonstone have numerous people throughout the day barging through the suitcase gates, staff told not to intervene. Multiply this across the network, a lot of money lost. The ULEZ clearly there to plug this and other holes created by their incompetence.

£160 mill to expand ulez & £100 mill still to be claimed through scrappage. Doesnt seem a big profit in fairness.

The scrappage was supported by Government I am certain. Thing is since Covid lockdowns there is a huge shift and less people using tube, although you would not think so at times crammed in one. I often get on almost empty central and district line ones in the early afternoon midweek. I am not in favour of ULEZ only because nobody can answer why it is ok to pollute everyone if you can afford to pay £12.50. It doesn’t affect me as my old car is compliant.

Who said paying £12 makes it o.k to pollute ? Tubes being empty after covid changed work conditions is irrelevant to pollution by cars.

So you have an old van chucking out diesel fumes not ULEZ compliant. Pay £12.50 Sir? No problem , carry on polluting! What do you mean you cannot afford £12.50 a day? That is not my problem that you are out of work , you better get rid of that old heap of junk.

It'd be unreasonable to just ban them wouldn't it? Imagine the frothing rage if they did that. Give people an opportunity to change is fairer.

There are also grants to retrofit vans to bring them up to standard.

I have travelled from zone 6 to a game many times using contactless, costs about a fiver return.

Sounds like you're doing something wrong.
Contactless Zone 6 to Zone 1 single is peak £9.40 off peak £6.40. The only way to do it cheaper is to avoid zone 1 which is then peak £5.10 or off peak £3.50. This is not practical where I live, especially on evening kick offs.
But Leyton isnt in zone 1.
It depends if you travel through zone 1 to get to it

A spokesperson for Mr Khan said: 'The Mayor has now reluctantly agreed to the proposal for TfL to initiate the notice period that could allow the withdrawal of Day Travelcards if no alternative proposals are agreed. While the Mayor and TfL remain committed to seeking alternatives in the coming months, the Mayor had to approve this instruction now in order to meet the deadlines in TfL's funding deal.

'This will begin a process lasting at least six months before the withdrawal could come into effect, during which time the decision can be reversed. The Mayor and TfL remain open to discussing all options with both the Department for Transport and the train operating companies, and will work with them to try to find a financially acceptable alternative that would allow Day Travelcards to remain available.'
A TfL spokesperson said: 'Due to requirements of the government's funding settlements for TfL to save money and generate significant amounts of additional revenue, we have had to consider proposals to stop accepting Day Travelcards on the TfL network.

'After careful consideration of the proposal, taking into account the requirements of TfL's funding settlement and TfL's Equality Impact Assessment (EqIA), the Mayor has considered the proposal from TfL, and has reluctantly instructed TfL to give the required minimum six months' notice to withdraw from the relevant provisions of the Travelcard agreement.

'This is the first stage in a process and there are no changes to tickets at this time. This is an operational decision that has been taken now to ensure that TfL meets the requirements of its funding agreement, but TfL continues to look for alternative options.

'While this six-month notice-period is now underway, this decision remains reversible and does not therefore mean that Day Travelcards will be withdrawn. TfL is keen to work collaboratively with the DfT and Rail Delivery Group to discuss options that would allow Day Travelcards to continue to be provided, while ensuring TfL can meet the requirements of the funding settlement with Government.

'The existing daily pay as you go caps on contactless or Oyster, which are used by the overwhelming majority of those travelling, will not be affected by this.'
Tory fingerprints all over this again.

Only if kenley insists on using friends & family railcard which has been shown to be more expensive than both oyster & contactless.

Ok then Joe315 tell me how I travel return to Leyton Tube station from Zone 6, with an adult and child (child does have a zip 11-15 card that he can use), for less than the current £12.90?

It does make my blood boil seeing people leap barriers or just barge open the luggage barrier gates to get a free ride after I am paying my hard earned cash every week to travel. I see it so often that only the dodgers I’ve witnessed must run into thousands of pounds. The lost revenue must lead indirectly to fare increases. You cannot get away that easy on the Paris Metro as the powerful barriers on there are about 5 foot plus high.

Kenley to norwood junction, overground to shadwell, then either dlr to stratford change for leyton or shadwell walk to whitechapel &go to mile end. both cheaper at £5.10 peak mon-fri & £3.50 all other times.

It's like twenty miles and there's only two of you ffs. Why even bother subjecting yourself to getting on dirty public transport and just go by bike? Given the speed limits even on the thirstiest bike you're unlikely to pay more than a fiver in petrol.

So you get to burn hydrocarbons, save money, have fun and be a cool motherfucker at the same time.

“Families travelling to London by train will have to pay 16% more on average after the day travelcard is scrapped, a charity has warned.

Campaign for Better Transport said that would make it more difficult to access discounted fares”.
