I got to thinking.................
The term bedwetter used by some on here to describe people who care, when things are not going well and they vocalise their concern.
Ok, what about the opposite ( of which there are many on here), people who appear not to give a sh1t when things are not going well, in the belief that its unnecessary to be concerned because somehow things will be fine, and that anyone who is concerned and says so, is a lesser person.
Anyone got any names to call these people? What about Boneheads ? Any other names?

The obvious one is Micawbers. Charles Dickens character, the eternal optimist, always believing that something will turn up. A bit like our new prolific goal scoring hero.

Re: I got to thinking.................
The issue is you will show zero contrition if we get a result on Saturday. The evidence in favour of the happy clappies is far stronger than it is the endless whiners - we are coming off the back of a title winning season, we have held onto the best manager we've had in decades and somehow managed to get our best outfield player back on loan. We recruited 9 players this summer, which is more than I think any of us were expecting, and almost all of them have good records they can point to.
Is this the same as pretending this division is going to be a cakewalk? Obviously not. We're a smaller fish in this pond. We are going to get beaten a lot more this season as we'll be facing teams with budgets several times our own, and with years of recruiting as this level or higher so will naturally have more depth and experience. Issues we were able to cover up last season won't be as easy this season. Comfortable survival would be a really positive outcome.
I'm okay with getting angsty about things if we're staring down the barrell come end of September with 1 win and only a handful of goals. But the club has earned a lot more credit in the bank than you and others are giving them.

Don't worry so much. Something will turn up once the owners get their large wedge out and sign some marquee material.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:03 am The issue is you will show zero contrition if we get a result on Saturday. Re: I got to thinking.................
Not panicking, the word frustrated is a better term to use.
The very important signing since we ended last season, was always going to be, who will be O’s new No.9, to score the goals we need to win tight games and stay in L1.
And we are still waiting…
This is not bed wetting
This is not panicking
For me it is frustration

The bedwetters damage morale and make a toxic and negative impact on atmosphere.

I still don't see how you can be frustrated after one league game - that you may well not have attended - against one of the bookies favourites?Stan1972 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:36 am Not panicking, the word frustrated is a better term to use.

I suppose its the difference between a glass half empty and a glass half full supporter - but as I'm the latter I find it hard to understand the former.

That was the term used during the Embleton times, to think some would be happy to have stuck with him and mid-table L2 mediocrity with 0 shots per game

as these people seem to support their team through thick and perceived thin, then why not call them SUPPORTERS or alternatively call them by their name

Bedwetter isnt used to describe people 'who care', its to describe those who frequently panic.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:51 am The term bedwetter used by some on here to describe people who care, when things are not going well and they vocalise their concern.

Teague is right about your ilk, you panic and moan in the knowledge that you can brush off being wrong.

Re: I got to thinking.................
Any Orient fan already knows about all these facts and figures. We, 'the whiners' appreciate very much what the club has done and what we are trying to achieve. But we are talking about the present not last season. And we, because we care, are talking about how ineffective our forward play is. I, personally, do not think there is anything more frustrating when a team presents very little danger on goal and simply does not look like scoring. And i think I'm talking for a few on here, for simply pointing this out. It's always easy to resort to the same old whining argument but I see it as constructive and realistic criticism. I am a die hard Orient supporter but I never delude myself into thinking everything is ok. At the moment our feeble threat on the opposition goal is not ok.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:03 am The issue is you will show zero contrition if we get a result on Saturday. Same with so many things these days. Loudmouth faces in the media talking about football, politics or whatever and confidently proclaiming X or Y never stop for a second to acknowledge when their predictions don't come to pass, they just move on to the next rant or moan as if nothing happened.Long slender neck wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 11:45 am You were wrong then?

Re: I got to thinking.................
Bedwetters just need to show a bit more patience really.
We’ve lost ONE game by 1-0 and had equal possession with a side that probably has a far bigger budget than Orient.
Yes, we’re all a bit frustrated at not getting a No. 9 in just yet but let’s give the team we have a chance .
Really hope we can ALL get behind the team tomorrow and get a result.
