Christy Pym (Posh) is available. Decent goalie. Byrne is not ready.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 5:22 pmI would much rather keep Vigs but yes , if he leaves we'll need a new first choice keeper . I think Byrne has good potential but he's not ready yet .

Today’s D Day . What’s the chances of us hearing anything. I’d say zero .

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
Look at the signings teams in L1 have made so far less than 12 and most of them would not be classified as being better than any of our contracted players. Ling said at the AGM that signings start in earnest week commencing 19 th June . If the cut off date for out of contract players is today then we will hear more in the coming days.

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
Considering today is the cut off day I'd like to think the club now already knows who's staying or going . I agree we won't know anything until sometime next week . In the meantime we just have to be patient for any updates .moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 6:07 pm Look at the signings teams in L1 have made so far less than 12 and most of them would not be classified as being better than any of our contracted players. Considering the EFL Transfer Window
doest open Until June 14th , not sure too
much will happen before that date .

I was just wondering when the club is going to tell us who's leaving . If they're going they're going .

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
As the 'cut off' date was Saturday ( yesterday), I would expect some news this coming week, in dribs and drabs, maybe some news tomorrow.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 8:50 am I was just wondering when the club is going to tell us who's leaving . If they're going they're going .
We were never going to get news during the weekend.
I personally am finding this whole saga frustrating. They've had a month to decide ffs, The club needs to know, so it can go look for suitable replacements, if these four are moving on

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
I would think that RW already has his targets and as Vigs and the others still haven’t signed , they will actively start recruiting from this week as we start pre season friendlies in around a month.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 9:56 amAs the 'cut off' date was Saturday ( yesterday), I would expect some news this coming week, in dribs and drabs, maybe some news tomorrow.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 8:50 am I was just wondering when the club is going to tell us who's leaving . Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
You'd think if any had signed yesterday the social media team would be straight on it to get good news out. The silence tells its own story I reckon.
Club and RW can't do much more really, Richie committed back in December and contracts were offered upfront. Penny for Richie's thoughts right now...

I'm happy to be patient for any new signings but when it comes to players leaving there's no reason why the club can't tell us straight away . If they are going , that's it .

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
I’m more surprised that players like Happe and Sweeney are stalling over signing. Both having come through the youth system and Happe recovering from a bad injury.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 11:08 am You'd think if any had signed yesterday the social media team would be straight on it to get good news out. Beckles another local lad , I thought he would stay, but as others have said, there’s plenty of fish in the sea and who knows, we even get better players.

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
I suspect their agents are "hawking" them around to other clubs, to see if he can get a better deal elsewhere
I suppose that is an agents job, but there must be a time limit, and I'd have thought its well past that now
Wellens needs to know soon, so he can buy another entire spine of a squad (or two) if indeed they will be signing elsewhere

The Club has done an excellent job of convincing people that they play with a 100% straight bat all the time, but some of you would do well to administer a pinch of salt alongside some of the things they say.

They have told us. Look at the retained list...RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 11:19 am I'm happy to be patient for any new signings but when it comes to players leaving there's no reason why the club can't tell us straight away . If they are going , that's it .
In terms of the others offered new contracts, how can the club tell us if they have not heard anything from those players?

I assume if Byrne, Sodje, Sweeney, or Nkrumah leave, we are entitled to compensation, but not Happe as he is now 24 ?

Re: Saturday is DDay for out of contract players
Yes, the deadline has passed for contract offers BUT until one of our squad signs on the dotted line for another club there is a reasonable chance that they might circle back and re-sign for us. They will be balancing earnings vs playing time vs risk of uncertainty (club less stable or not a happy place)
Obviously, the longer they leave it - the greater the likelihood that ML / RW et al will look/commit elsewhere.
Last close season - it all felt messy and slow - right into July - and we know what happened from that point!
