He needs a big season this year; failed badly at Morecambe last season.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Doesn't seem to have taken Bonne's number 9 shirt, hopefully another striker signing to come. Can't remember what number Wilkinson was.
Gut feeling says he is a player a bit like McCallum, if he is motivated he is going to be class, if not then fans end up getting on his back. That seems to be what has happened so far in his career.
I think this is a good signing from both points of view. I would feel he has a little bit to prove to people, let's hope he does it here.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Here's the link. We had him on our radar for 6 months and was a potential signing back in Jan if we had lost either of our forwards.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Fine.
Don't think a starting forward line of Angol/Wilkinson is too shabby really, although not much depth with Harrold/Alabi. Hopefully the new striker is of similar pedigree as well, as there is a large gulf between the first two and reserve two. Just can't imagine Harrold playing 90 mins in a League match against tough opposition, although perhaps he might surprise us.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
I think it could be an excellent forward pairing, though as Earwig says, the gulf between those 2 and the current back ups is a big one. The signing of a third choice striker is equally as important as it was getting Bonne and Koroma replacements, which we have done quickly and very well.

Yep, wonder if the other forward coming in will be in the mould of a Koroma-lite type player.Buddy Manucci wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:38 pm I think it could be an excellent forward pairing, though as Earwig says, the gulf between those 2 and the current back ups is a big one. Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
I'm a little more reserved about Angol/Wilkinson tbh. Just based on his stats, Angol seems quite a hit or miss player. Wilkinson by all accounts was very impressive for Dagenham, less so for Gillingham. Seems like we've been tracking both for quite a while now, so should have a solid appreciation of how they'll fit in tactically and should hopefully come good. If we're playing two upfront, I think a third striker is an absolute necessity. Harrold I think is a bad contract, given for sentimental reasons. Alabi wasn't good enough for us a division below, I would hate to see him playing League football.eagwgw wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:21 pm Fine.

Coulthirst . I don't know myself but somebody on this board mentioned that a front pairing of Angol and Wilkinson lacks any pace. What do you all think.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:46 pmYep, wonder if the other forward coming in will be in the mould of a Koroma-lite type player.Buddy Manucci wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:38 pm I think it could be an excellent forward pairing, though as Earwig says, the gulf between those 2 and the current back ups is a big one. Think JMD might be a bit of a dark horse as a back up striker playing off a target man.that said he needs to be starting as our 10 as often as possible IMHO.Buddy Manucci wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:38 pm I think it could be an excellent forward pairing, though as Earwig says, the gulf between those 2 and the current back ups is a big one. That's Bowery who did well at Crewe and has just signed for newly promoted MK Dons ?Disoriented wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:08 amThere are shades of Brett Holman and Jordan Bowery here Bergen.

So much dickheadery in this thread from the usual suspects

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Well that looks like the first choice pairing confirmed. Good luck to the pair of them, they've got a tough job to replace bonne and koroma.
I'd still like to see someone else in alongside them so we could perm 2 from 3 and not be over reliant on just 2 strikers as we were for most of last season.

Agree. Relatively pleased with Wilko and Angol but we need more depth. I reckon it might be a loanee.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:38 pm Well that looks like the first choice pairing confirmed. Good luck to the pair of them, they've got a tough job to replace bonne and koroma.

Shrewsbury twitter didn't seem too disappointed about him going and were shocked they got a fee.
But a new chapter for him, London lad by the sounds of it, and i think he will do well.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
If we want any chance in this league we need competition for the starting pairing. Harrold isn't up to that physically and Alabi is halfway out the door so we simply have to bring in another.CreamofSumYungGai wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:38 pm Well that looks like the first choice pairing confirmed. It'll really poor if we don't bring in a proper signing for this, we've let 4 strikers go, two for good money so only signing half of that back permanently isn't enough for a level above.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:45 pm

Overall if it were a word I'd be whelmed by this signing. Not overwhelmed, not underwhelmed but ready to see what he can do with no preconceptions. Welcome and good luck for the new season Lee, hope you smash some goals in for us.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Wore the Number 9 shirt for an admittedly average League One side last year and hasn't scored since September. Looking at the four goals he did score he is a big presence around the area and a bit of a goal poacher (two excellent finishes in clips 3 & 4). Clips available here
