Re: Coronavirus
Sage calling for a lockdown and essentially saying that after Xmas is too late.
This really is where having a leader with no authority or integrity is so important. There’s no way Boris could do that now and people would take any notice. His frivolous and sloppy leadership will, once again, lead to more deaths.

Re: Coronavirus
But SAGE would of course be aware of all that so begs the questions why that it is being suggested and released to the press in this way. QuestionableApple Wumble wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 1:31 pm Sage calling for a lockdown and essentially saying that after Xmas is too late.

Re: Coronavirus
They probably think the vast majority would tell Boris where to stick his restrictions if he said no visiting family at Christmas

Sage aren’t there to play politics. They don’t care what it means for Boris, they just have to suggest what they think the right thing is.idontkn0 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 1:56 pmBut SAGE would of course be aware of all that so begs the questions why that it is being suggested and released to the press in this way. As for why and how it’s been leaked is slightly worrying

Re: Coronavirus
Well, yeah. But it’s not as straight forward as that. I’d assume you don’t really want public health recommendations ’leaked’, especially without context, during a stressful and worrying time. Granted it was probably leaked by someone wanting to hold the government to account because they are too scared to enforce another lockdown…

Cases pass 10,000, seems like a particularly bad version of the cold this year

Which we knew would happen. It’s the dominant variant. Deaths and hospitalisations are the trigger as you know. Seems as though that with an estimated 300,000 cases a day and only 50,000 additional reported cases , many are not experiencing symptoms severe enough to bother testing.Currywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 3:49 pm Cases pass 10,000, seems like a particularly bad version of the cold this year

Latest government data has shown there are 1,534 Covid patients in London hospitals - up 28.6% on last week - with about 200 new admissions per day

There’s a lot of people not testing because they don’t want to be isolated for Xmas or miss work, for sure.George wrote: ↑Sat Dec 18, 2021 4:49 pmWhich we knew would happen. Re: Coronavirus
So as of today , there were 65 hospitalisations in the UK because of Omicron. I haven’t been able to find a death as a result of Omicron. All scientists are still saying that the major symptoms are in order
1. Runny nose
2 . Headache
3 . Fatigue
4 . Aches.
All the symptoms of a cold , basically. I am not posting this to be smug and this is the current picture and not what may happen further down the line.

Re: Coronavirus
It will eventually turn into a cold as viruses from previous pandemics have done, but i don’t think it is at that stage yet
