Re: Migrants crossing the channel
For an Aussie's take on their approach to migrant sea crossings, here is an interview with Helen Dale. She's a writer, lawyer and, for a while, was a political advisor for the Liberal Democrats in the Australian Senate.
(I'm not endorsing this, by the way, but it is interesting to hear the rationale behind the Australian government's approach. Even if you do have to put up with the 'hilarious' Francis Foster.)

Don’t know, must be good rewards here to go through a dozen or so safe countries then get in a boat risking their lives to get to this ‘Racist ‘ Land as many suggest it is.Admin wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 2:23 pmCan you tell us what these rewards are?Kimpon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 1:34 pmWhilst the ‘rewards’ in the UK are better than the EU they will continue.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 12:26 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-kent-58484976
What is the solution to this?
France etc dont want these people so arent going to try too hard to stop them and we cant very well stop them once they are in the middle of the sea.
Why cant these gangs be stopped?

From the above, it seems that only 1% of the 26.4 million people displaced across the world have come to the UK. So that kind of indicates that some 99% of them have not gone through "a dozen or so safe countries" and have stopped earlier in the journey (indeed, 85%+ of all displaced persons are housed in developing countries). I suppose the 1% who do come here may have other reasons - like they already have family here, or they can speak English already, for example - rather than the £40-odd a week they get on a debit card if they do come here.

Good news that we are providing shelter for frightened and abused refugees. Somebody said the other day that there are literally hundreds of thousands of job vacancies in transport, hospitality and agriculture for them to earn a living in. Its win win.StillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:11 pmhttps://www.refugeecouncil.org.uk/infor ... MIQAvD_BwE

True. But this is meant to be one of the most xenophobic and racist countries in the world so why do they pass through so many others to get here?Ronnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 4:09 pm Maybe if things weren’t as sh*t in the countries they’re fleeing, they wouldn’t flee?

United Nations good enough for you?
https://www.unhcr.org/refugee-statistic ... /?url=n0DE
United Kingdom is home to about 195,000 Refugees and Asylum seekers, out of the 26.4 million global total (excluding displaced Venezuelans) - that's just under 0.8%. By way of contrast, Pakistan and Germany host around 1.4 million, or just over 5% of the world total, each.
99.2% of refugees didn't make their way to the UK, so they must have stopped somewhere else.

Yeah you racist fckheads. Not wanting illegal immigration into your country. The same as the citizens of every other country on earth. Anyway, the invasion hasn’t even started. We are only at the very beginning of the mass movement of people. I am saving my blood pressure until they not only land on the beach but start queuing for a 99 with a flake.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
Sad thing is that those who legally want to apply for asylum are ‘trumped’ (no pun intended) but those who jump the queue , lining the pockets of the people smugglers. Let’s not forget also, many of those who enter illegally by boat, lorries and such , disappear into the system. Modern day slavery and child abuse issues by these means are rife.

You are confusing illegal immigration with refugees seeking asylum which is not illegal.

Re: Migrants crossing the channel
No claims , so many cases of people being ‘discovered’ after years of imprisonment. Easy to understand when cases of say East Europeans were trafficked into the UK (easy when we were once in the EU) to ‘work as Au Pairs’ or ‘Farm Workers’ the sent straight to a Brothel.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 8:22 pmLinks for all these claims you make pleaseKimpon wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 7:42 pm Sad thing is that those who legally want to apply for asylum are ‘trumped’ (no pun intended) but those who jump the queue , lining the pockets of the people smugglers. I dont remember to many stories of Eastern Europeans
Coming across the Channel as refugees on boats .
So you always make up 1 argument
Then use a seperate argument to try &
Justify your 1st argument .
Ive seen this tactic before
No credibility at all
Welcome back No1Orient fan ( iwasrightbutamwrongagain/orientTony/etc) .

It's not too hard to do, as australia has proved, and look how much more coastline is here than in the UK. But you have to be willing to accept some pretty horrific human rights abuses.

The funniest thing is that because of Brexit and the UK no longer being part of the EU, the previous agreements about returning asylum seekers to the EU point of departure no longer applies. Brexiteers really have 'shot themselves in the foot'.
