What happened to the Irish people at the hands of the British government after the war was a terrible slur on Westminster.
The two wars were totally different in their origins. WW1 was fought because the super powers, at the time, Britain, Germany and the
Austro-Hungarian empire all got mixed up in it after the assassination of the Arch Duke Ferdinand, and their respective Royal Families
could not or would not stop the ensuing hell that resulted, all blood payed for by the common working man.

WW2 was simply to stop a crazed megalomaniac from taking over the world along with Japan.

Just as an aside, I wonder if coyos got a lazy lob on after doctoring HK's picture. :xxx
What about the Irish people who fought in the wars .
Good for them , honestly good for them

What about Soldier A & C who were let off yesterday for killing a man by shooting him in the back ?

What about soldier F on Bloody Sunday who is still awaiting
Trial & other soldiers awaiting trials ?

What about the same group of Paras who 6 months earlier were at the Ballymurphy massacre ?

Or the soldiers who fired the rubber bullets that killed
11 year old Francis Rowntree or 15 year old Seamus Duffy ?

How about the Soldier who shot 23 year old Aiden McAnespie , who was shot on his way to play Gaelic Football ?
The Same Soldier who was initially charged but then let off .

Is any of the " TOMMY MONEY going to them ?

It seems a stand against Bigotry only goes so far !

Your assessment of the cause of WW2 being down to a crazed megalomaniac needs further research.

You may well find the capitalist super powers were once again fighting each other, as in WW1, over the wealth that can be extracted through an Empire.

Do find the fixation on some parts of the left with knocking veterans charities a bit odd. They are there for men and women who are typically short on options at a very young age and decide to sign up for something that offers some semblance of opportunity. They then get spat out the other side in their late 20s with physical and emotional trauma that they have to deal with for the rest of their lives.

Get the fanfare and flag waving around it is a bit nauseating but the beneficiaries are the exact sort of vulnerable young people, essentially victims of an unfair society that doesn't give a sh*t about them otherwise, that deserve support from the left.

You make a good point, although i dont agree with it totally.
My view is, this country is war mad, this country loves nothing better than to invade and kill other countries people, and it always has.

The government of the day makes these wars, and uses, these young men to fight for them, usually for the gain of rich people. when the war is over, and the thousands, or sometimes millions of people have been killed, these soldiers are thrown on the scrapheap.....they were useful when they were young and fit and able to kill a load of other countries young people, but once they cant do that anymore theyre thrown away, and the government want nothing more to do with them.

Charities shouldnt have to help these vets....the government that used them to start a war should look after them. They served their country, and their country should look after them...not charity

"Being Spat out "
Let the Left & right wing amongst us deal with supporting
them out of there own free will ,

Dont force people to support something they are not comfortable with .

“ The sole aim is to create a powerful new community that will support the best possible care for the deserving veterans of recent conflicts.”

So they’re going to support those that were involved in the North of Ireland. Tuffers has made excellent points in this thread.

I have deleted all my Social media connections with LOFC
Except here , i have blocked Emails from the club
I shall ring them next week to remove me from there
Database & those family members who have bought stuff for me over
the last 50 years of supporting this Wonderful little club .

This i cant forgive though .
It is asking me to choose between my Loyalty to my club
Or to choose loyalty to my Family & my Heritage .

There is only going to be 1 winner .

Its been Nice supporting you O's , but i think im done .

I dont have a problem with players who played for the club 100+ years ago
What they did was admirable .

Modern Soldiers as in post ww2
Became a different beast altogether .
