All the big clubs will Nick your players for next to nothing.
Complete waste of money.

Which is the Brentford way.
We don't nick them though. We pick up their cast off's.
The facts as per nigel is that the academy pays for itself over a ten year period and their stated aim is to reduce that period downwards, I think he said to 6 years initially and then down further after that.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:03 pmWe don't nick them though. If it was my money running the club then I'd love the idea of an academy but hate its cost because of the lack of benefits over the longer term.
It’s not going to happen.Thor wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:54 pmThe facts as per nigel is that the academy pays for itself over a ten year period and their stated aim is to reduce that period downwards, I think he said to 6 years initially and then down further after that.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:03 pmWe don't nick them though. So I guess some investment was required which we've sent in coaches in the academy etc. Now we need to see players come through which get sold for Big money.
Well they sold Griffin Park and I don’t believe they own their new ground.
You can only do that if you keep them - and to do that you need to keep them under the radar. Alzate went for the sort of money considered peanuts, Dalby too. Before that Obafemi went to Southampton for small change in comparison to running a youth system. All the bright players get picked off unfortunately - in part because kids at Orient aspire to play for Leeds, Brighton or Southampton. If the system were fairer towards smaller clubs then the investment would be worth it, but in order to get bailout support they have had to sell a bit more of our clubs soul. I'd give our youth network another 1.5 seasons before changing the way we operate - if it has not borne any fruit by then.Thor wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:54 pmThe facts as per nigel is that the academy pays for itself over a ten year period and their stated aim is to reduce that period downwards, I think he said to 6 years initially and then down further after that.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 6:03 pmWe don't nick them though. I think you mean the ground.Tent Keague wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 1:17 pm There's a lot more to a football club than its first XI.
If having a players wage cap of sorts (of course it can be avoided somehow) means that as a club we are able to grow other aspects of the club then I'm all for it.
For example if it means the owners could purchase the club back off of Barry over time and placed into the hands of the club then I'd say we'd be in a better position than Brentford* who don't own their ground and owe their owners.
Soccer camps, ground repairs, better training facilities, maybe providing players with further education, purchasing property where players could live. Who knows what else could be funded?
Some might seem a bit pie in the sky but there's more chance of it happening when we aren't having to overcompensate players just because of an artificial market.
*That's not to say that the Brentford model doesn't work. I had the right arse ache of them after the 13/14 season but I applaud them for what they've done since and I wanted them to get promoted last season. This season too.
I wouldn’t even wait that long.LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 1:01 pmYou can only do that if you keep them - and to do that you need to keep them under the radar. It Has taken the current owner 14 years to get to the point they are at now .LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:55 pm They made £15m+ on Maupay; they will make another £15m+ on Benrahma and have plenty of others getting good reviews meaning even if they don't make the prem this or next season then it will certainly not see any debt increase.
He got rid of the Academy quite early.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:51 pmIt Has taken the current owner 14 years to get to the point they are at now .LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:55 pm They made £15m+ on Maupay; they will make another £15m+ on Benrahma and have plenty of others getting good reviews meaning even if they don't make the prem this or next season then it will certainly not see any debt increase.
Lets look at us after 5 years being a league club again .
Especially with all clubs losing money hand over fist in
The curent situation.
May 2016 they scrapped the academyStill wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:54 pmHe got rid of the Academy quite early.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:51 pmIt Has taken the current owner 14 years to get to the point they are at now .LittleMate wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:55 pm They made £15m+ on Maupay; they will make another £15m+ on Benrahma and have plenty of others getting good reviews meaning even if they don't make the prem this or next season then it will certainly not see any debt increase.

Realised it was a waste of money.
This is the evidence why it’s a waste of money.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:13 pmMay 2016 they scrapped the academyStill wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:54 pmHe got rid of the Academy quite early.

& he got involved in 2006
So 5 years as i said would be half the time of him getting
Rid of the academy . So we are ahead of the brentford curve theoretically
Yes but that was before budgets & isnt really relevant anymore .Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:18 pmThis is the evidence why it’s a waste of money.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:13 pmMay 2016 they scrapped the academyStill wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 3:54 pm

Also Brexit means young foreign players will not find it easy to a way into the uk
As they wont meet new rules of appearances or international .
Depending how long the budgeting lasts could see things become very different
For everybody outside of the EPL
Did you not watch the last video that involved nigel kent danny & martin .Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:52 pmIt won’t stop clubs nicking our best players for peanuts.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:27 pmYes but that was before budgets & isnt really relevant anymore .Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:18 pm

To me it’s a nonsense continuing with it.
It’s not as if we have bought anybody through in the last 10 years that has got in big money.
Not too sure that we won’t be able to sign players from Europe.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:06 pmDid you not watch the last video that involved nigel kent danny & martin .Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:52 pmIt won’t stop clubs nicking our best players for peanuts.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:27 pm

They discussed how massive the academy system will become as players
Under 21 are not part of your budget & you get savings to your budget for home growns
The brexit part was very interesting If we tried to sign Ouss Cisse we wouldnt get him
If we tried to sign Matt Baudry now we wouldnt get him , if we tried to sign a romain vincelot
A wim wilchearts etc . No David Mooney No John Tehoue ,
but we maybe would get an aged Amara Simba though.
Be sureStill wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:10 pmNot too sure that we won’t be able to sign players from Europe.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:06 pmDid you not watch the last video that involved nigel kent danny & martin .Still wrong wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 4:52 pm
