Re: Rashford - Free Meals
I pledge to put a box of porridge in the food bank bit next time I go Tesco's. Who's with me boarders?
Re: Rashford - Free Meals
Do kids still do a harvest festival this time of year where they take cans, dried foods and other staples round to the olds?
Maybe that could be diverted to their classmates whose parents can't afford to feed them?

Need educating about budgeting a producing a healthy and nutritious meal for a fraction of the cost of a KFC or Pizza take away, indeed.

People who cannot afford to feed their children should not have children.
There has been in existence contingencies in place post war means to support families in need , the benefit system. What do people do with this money?
At what point does the state stop nursing people ? Some parental responsibility is required at some point. Rashford is being put up by Lefty Remoaning bigots for their own political agenda.
Why? Is that the extent of your moronic vocabulary?

Stats on income vs takeaway purchases?
When I was a kid and we were on a very small budget we might get a McDonald’s on our birthday but there wasn’t a takeaway in sight.

'cigarettes' is where you lose a bit of credibility. You need to see past booze, fags and scratchcards. The 90's rhetoric has done you in.greyhound wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 9:56 am poverty people don't no what it is.

Poverty, like everything - is relative.
In Sudan a taxi driver earns about £130 a month working full time. Would you say, if someone from Sudan moved here, that they should only expect say, £200 a month for working full time, and should be bloody grateful because that's more than home?

Why didn't you, as your treat, go to a State Cooking University Meeting (S.C.U.M) and learn to use that £2.99 better? Do you not realise how much porridge you could have got with that?Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 11:14 am Stats on income vs takeaway purchases?

The ones I know of go straight to food banks these days, rather than the oldies directly.

I remember using the 5p that we used to get back on the locker deposit at Waltham Forest swimming baths.
My mum moaned so much I never did again.

This is so true.
Lazy parenting.
I can hardly remember having a take away as a kid.
Maybe the odd fish & chips on a Friday.

That's good to hear, especially as young people going to old people's homes isn't OK in the current climateRonnie Hotdogs wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 11:53 amYes they do.Digby Chicken Caesar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 9:31 am Do kids still do a harvest festival this time of year where they take cans, dried foods and other staples round to the olds?

Re: The 4p Breakfast
But you don't actually know that's how the majority of in poverty people eat do you. It just fits your worldview to believe that working poor people are just feckless.
Research shows it's cheaper and easier to eat badly than it is well. This is true across the world by the way, not some unique failing to the UK. The world is getting fatter.

I'd love to see this research because the conflation of cheaper and easier is quite amusingMistadobalina wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 1:11 pm But you don't actually know that's how the majority of in poverty people eat do you.
