Works out to just under 4p a day.

No, you can do what I did last night Max.
A beef casserole and Dumplings for 3.
Along with Creamy mash potato, Broccoli and Spinach.carrots mushrooms.
Came to just under £2 per head.
Still had one meal left over.

I heard on he radio earlier today and have since read that the commons voted down extending free meals for pupils. How can the clowns that voted that down sleep well at night, it’s an absolute disgrace. No one should live in poverty in this country, no child should go without food and especially in this mad world we currently live in help should be extended and more arms wrapped around people that need help and support.

I’m fuming and I’m going to be writing to my mp to complain and ask he makes representation to the minister responsible and even lobby the pm.

Time for action people, hopefully a few more of you will reach out to your mp and show your disgust at this turn of events.

There has been in existence contingencies in place post war means to support families in need , the benefit system. What do people do with this money?

At what point does the state stop nursing people ? Some parental responsibility is required at some point. Rashford is being put up by Lefty Remoaning bigots for their own political agenda.

As much as a nirvana of porridge and cornflakes to get you through the week is no doubt appealing (and in no way linked to health issues, lack of progress in education, insufficient for wellbeing etc), some don't. That's not contentious. That's just fact. But still, just for now, right? Well, no. Poverty is often very long term. That is insufficient in the 5th richest country on earth.

You have another thread or two to further cement your point about a subject you are ignorant on. Maybe whack that on there next time? Oh, and I know you're a lifelong Labour voter.

Poorest 10% of households spend over 25% of expenditure on food. Those same households are likely to spend 33% or above on rent. Chuck in other housing costs, loss of income/job due to a recession, internet, phone contracts, and then £2 per head per meal starts to look pretty expensive doesn't it?

It is cheaper to eat badly than well, that's backed up by any research you want to look at. Education is obviously part of the problem, but it doesn't help poverty stricken kids to know the reason they will go malnourished and hungry is because their parents were badly taught. Free school meals is a subsidy to the poorest kids during the deepest recession that makes sure they actually get healthy food in them.

Why are people moralising them when there are consultants being paid 7k a day to develop a track and trace system thats failed so badly that even more people are being pushed into poverty?

Well yeah, we're starting to get there. You're inching closer.

If we're talking about the poorest in society then yes, we are talking about poverty. And yes, for some the income is insufficient. So sometimes they need state help - or more state help. Or at least less barriers.

But those barriers are easier to put up by governments when they feel the public mood is on the 'well, they buy fags probably!' train. So it becomes a difficult problem to sort.
