Hate is exactly the wrong word to use and has no place of forums. Do you really believe supporters hate. They may not rate, even voice that opinion repeatedly. But Hate! Far too strong a word.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 7:20 amI think Slating 1 player Constantly to the pointDohnut wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 10:39 pm It’s time to stop using the word hate. Re: When did O's Fans become a bunch of whimpering Snowflakes ?
Just came to me that back in the eighties when we used to have a lot of low scoring games and many defeats, a guy used to wait until the gates were opened in the coronation gardens end with about 15mins of the game left (he would never pay) he would come in stand behind the goal and shout dogs abuse at the players and manager. As we had stood their suffering for a hour or more it always ended up in a argument.

'Snowflakes' and 'people who like to moan' are not the same thing.

and "people who offer reasonable and civilised criticism that I happen to disagree with" is a third category, albeit one in relatively short supply on here.Wally Banter wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 3:31 pm 'Snowflakes' and 'people who like to moan' are not the same thing.

Nah, we still had them during JE's tenure. It's just human nature.

It about expectations. Under JE we had high expectations and moaned when we didn’t reach them all the time. Now we have modest expectations and moan when we don’t reach them at all.

That’s funny because even the wind up who started this silly thread said that the moaners were quiet at the beginning of the season when we were winning
As i say start winning matches and it will shut us moaners up.

They were less vocal. As they would be if we were winning now, 100% agree. But they just lurk about really and nothing gets rid of them. They even post more here after a loss. I can tell, if we lose tonight, who'll be posting. It's just how it is really. Happy clappies got to have their day as we won the league and now the status quo of moaners central returns. We win the league in the next few years and get to L1, which sorta feels like the promised land right now, and it'll be the same if we lose a few. It's just the circle of strife.

You didn't need to be a happy clappy to follow JE's side. He had it bang on getting us to play aggressively but with pace and a ruthless cutting edge.PoliticOs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 5:41 pmThey were less vocal. It was the most un-Orient side I've ever watched with moments like Koroma winding up Porter just perfectly summing up that bit of grit Edinburgh had instilled. That needs to come back but I don't see anyone with the leadership and winner mentality to do it right now. Love to be proved wrong as I only want success at the club like most.

But he had a good team, playing well. He hadn't done anything different to be specifically aggressive and to have a ruthless cutting edge, that just comes with being good. And a myriad of other things. It's not a lightbulb coaching point. Embleton isn't asking for them to 'not be cutting edge'.gshaw wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 7:07 pmYou didn't need to be a happy clappy to follow JE's side. Honestly I think you worry too much about subjective, non quantifiable, non issues. I understand why cultures are important but if we played a lower Prem team and they weren't, in your eyes, 'aggressive and with a ruthless cutting edge' they'd still beat us. As they are just better. You're assigning those attributes as a self fulfilling prophecy. Of course we had those attributes as we won the league, because, yknow, we won the league.
If this team, miraculously, won the league - you'd be saying they'd developed a ruthless aggression as if its a coaching point. It's a symptom of, not a cause of. Embleton can't just go and say 'hey guys, shall we try being ruthless today?!'. It doesn't work this way.
It's not an Orient DNA thing. We aren't special for playing the community club angle that I know bothers you, and we aren't special for having more years of being 'non aggressive' or 'non cutting edge' than years we are. We're just a regular lower league side. The years we do well you'll think we are, the years we don't you'll think we're not.
You say you don't see it, but if we started winning, you'd say we have it. So it's not a case of 'aggressive and ruthless? Yes! Then we are winning!' it's a case of 'are we winning? Yes! Then we are aggressive and ruthless. If you're seeing it any other way you'll always be disappointed.

Disagree there, JE had them playing that way within a few games even when he came in and we were a few places away from NL relegation zone. I say "controlled aggression" because that was the specific phrase Justin used just before the Sutton game at home. We went and kicked them off the park and won 4-1, it was beautiful.PoliticOs wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 7:38 pm

That last goal on Saturday was the opposite of that, powderpuff challenges without real conviction. There's something missing, it's like the team is trying but with no real belief in what they're doing. To quote your last post it is almost unquantifiable but you know that spark when you see it.
