When did O's Fans become a bunch of whimpering Snowflakes ?

Post by tuffers#1 »

Has it always been so & because of Social Media i never saw it ,

Or are they just now a bunch of big girl's blouses because we arent
A Premier League or Championship Club ?

The sniping at Martin Ling , Ross Embleton, Sam Ling &
Now at Nigel Travis & Kent Teague for using furlough money from the govt.

Has it been a slow slide into whingeing or was it always this way .

My memories from the 70s were that you had a moan for an hour , then got on
with Life , Now the whimpering goes on for weeks & months.

Not really, it's just more obvious now with the advent of social media, podcasts, radio shows dedicated to 4th division clubs, newspapers going online and so on. It's the same way everyone old enough to remember thinks everything post 2000 is better for everyone, or worse for everyone, moulded to their specific point. 'People are ruder', 'kids are more selfish', 'times are easier', 'parenting is worse!' and so on.

We definitely go overboard on some of these things and I agree the Ling/Embleton thing is just a bit boring really, but it would have been like this back in 1990 if it could have been. It doesn't mean it's not unfair, but it doesn't mean it's worse, really.

I think the poster wasn't really aiming to have a big dig at T&T either, they were just a bit confused on it.

Apple ,

2 seasons without an away win &
It was like a party everytime we went away .

We came through 2 brutal years under the Italian clown &
Managed to survive mainly because of T&T reacting to the passion of the fans & the fact they had a few quid spare .

Now we have nothing but whimpering snotty nosed boarders acting like there mum wont let then have
there Christmas presents 6 months before christmas !

Some 'fans' have been waiting to stick the knife in and they've had to wait as we started fairly well.

A build up of frustration because we started well & there
Hatred could only be turned inside.
As soon as defeats came the Hate burst through.

It poses the question,
Is it the hate for Football in general, LOFC, individuals or just of life itself ?

Intriguing anyway

Good question Tuffers and i think it's the latter of the three "Just of life itself".
It's funny but a month or so back i was a little easier on some of the decisions by the management but now i think through frustration i am questioning them more.
Was put back on furlough in October so maybe that played apart but that's probably just a excuse.

Always been moaners, back in the 80's and 90's the blokes my dad used to stand with were relentless and would even find fault on the occasions we were winning comfortably. In the end my dad saw it as an excuse to stay away.

Nowadays this place and SM give the moaners a platform to keep it going beyond a couple of hours on matchdays and even fuel eachother with even more things to moan about.

For me personally it's seeing us go to the brink, come back and then discover that Orient are actually capable of winning something after so many years of falling at the last hurdle.

Under JE sides said how they hated to play us, that was music to my ears. Now seeing us slide back into that nice-but-toothless approach is really frustrating to watch. T&T went out to pick a winner with Justin so why deviate from an approach that brought success?

Remenber we are half way to our owners objectives
G , which is of course to be a league 1 side in 6 years.

6 games into the season many are now joining
the whimpering blousy types.

Personally, I just want the best for Orient. And, in spite of the fantastic support from the owners, some decent players, and supporters who have stayed very loyal throughout this difficult time, I don't think we're getting anywhere remotely near it.

I'm staying consistent waiting for the 10 game mark as that seems to be the barometer in previous seasons, after that next big milestone is Xmas period.

Just keep us safe from having to watch that NL clogging ever again please Orient!

What will change for you then, you'll begin to lose faith? Start being negative? Lose your optimism? Because you're already doing that. If it's 10 games (league!) to judge, then why are you judging already?

I can’t help feeling it’s the underlying fear of being relegated back down to the National League. As a club we’ve been through so much since Wembley 2014 that some fans, including myself, are worried that we don’t start sliding backwards. I know we’ll never be a Liverpool or Real Madrid but being good enough to stay out of relegation trouble would be good enough for me. At the moment I’m not sure we are good enough to stay out of trouble. Hopefully our fortunes start to turn around tomorrow night at Tranmere

It’s time to stop using the word hate. The idea that if you don’t like this or that decision or whatever it becomes hate is absolute utter nonsense. In fact it’s too stupid for words. Terminology aimed at closing down freedom of speech.

You don’t like this result, you must hate everybody involved. So childish.

I think Slating 1 player Constantly to the point
Some say " shouldnt be anywhere near a football pitch & the
use of the term NEPOTISM , trumps any kind of Childishness .

The constant abuse of Ling also nulifys childishness.

There are those who are even questioning Nigel & Kent .

Because they have Money .
Its a total embarrassment to the club by
some So called Fans !

Hate is ths only possible explanation as it certainly isnt jealousy.

I don't think anyone expects Orient to be a Premiership, or even Championship club soon.

I think there is an over-arching feeling among many fans though that we could simply be 'doing better', with an experienced manager.Hence RE copping flak when things don't go well..

This is bound to spill over onto Social Media. In the 70s/80s, as others have said there might have been some moaning for an hour after the game, but social media offers the chance to do that 24/7, from anywhere on the planet. It strikes me that 60-70% of social media Is moaning, so it's no wonder things appear the way they do.

Maybe the constant digging out of Sam Ling (particularly) is a bit much; but I think fans are concerned again that we could be doing better, and he looks a poor player at this level.

10 (league) games yeah. That came about last season when we started poorly and people were saying wait 10 games for table to settle down, give Embleton time in the role etc. Cups are just a distraction, can't gauge much about performances in competitions where other clubs are fielding reserve sides.

Also if you divide the season into quarters the 10 game mark is roughly where one ends and the next phase begins.

August - end October
Start of season, some crazy results with unusually fast starters hitting the top, they don't often stay there. Most teams with full strength squads etc. Some clubs still finding their way with new players coming in or new managers.

November - end December
Difficult winter schedule with lots of games on top of each other, injuries and suspensions start to bite. Managers start making plans for transfer window. If you're going to sack a manager now is the time to do it so they get a feeling for for the squad in time for transfer window.

I think Embleton is approaching that time when if the board were going to make a change that's when they'd start seriously looking. If you miss the transfer window any new man would have one hand tied behind their back. We appear to be broke anyway so transfer window may end up academic for that reason alone :~

I believe our snowflakery can be traced back to the playoff final loss at Wembley.
