Of course it’s too early, but it’s reasonable to look at those 5 games and cop a feel, so to speak.
Fact is we were bang average before Covid in the league. This after all the hype about getting back to training early giving us a head start on the others! Really. Our only league win against bottom-of-the-table Oldham. Hardly inspiring.
Some may feel we still have NL quality players. Maybe it’s more to do with having some decent L2 players who are just performing like NL players. Our squad is a damn site better than what we are seeing on the pitch. OK, maybe not top 8 but certainly not bottom 8
Where we are struggling is just doing the basics. Our defending is crap, our organisation leaves a lot to be desired and passing dross. We are fortunate to have a decent keeper and an on form striker. Two players who separate us from being bottom.
As for it being a difficult season. Yup, for all teams and not just us. We are fortunate to be bringing in a few new players, have owners willing to fund the club and a Board willing to go the extra mile. I’m sure we are a damn site better off than many.
All we need to do is to be able to utilise what we have to it’s best advantage. Our squad is much better than we see in the league, both before and after Covidgate. They are being given every opportunity to be the best they can be by the Board. Time for the excuses to stop and performance delivery to start. Saturday is a good place to start.

I don’t believe we have good enough players in our squad. The head coach/manager might tinker with the team, put players in different positions but ultimately it’s down to the quality that we have on the field. When a 38 year old keeps getting MOM mentions, that tells you everything you need to know.
He was an international, he played in the Premier league even at 38 he has ability the others don't. Please remember you don't lose you ability you just lose your speed or stamina. If a few of them follow him then we will be ok, his attitude and application are first class.

To earley to call it yet ages to go have faith we may turn ot around
If R oss can sort out our defence then I reckon we'll do very well this season. The keepers , Midfield and strikers are good so it's just our defence that's need sorting .
Agree that it’s the defence which primarily needs sorting. I think we’ve the basis of a decent team there, but it needs the shortcomings addressed.
I’m very much in the camp of wanting Ross to succeed, but am not (yet) being convinced he’s the right man. But it’s early days this season for such judgements, it’s been covid impacted, and with the cup matches our record looks reasonable, but it’s the league where he will ultimately be judged.
I do have this mischievous thought that at some point he’ll convert DJ into a full back though!

Trouble is red under ross we’ve proven we can’t defend for toffee, the same players under Justin put their bodies on the line all the time. When goals were going in Justin addresses it and stopped it from happening, Ross doesn’t seem capable of changing it or turning it around from a defensive perspective. We are defensively inept and tactically clueless, left wingers at left back, left back at centre half, centre forwards at right wing and so on, is it any wonder we look confused on the pitch?
