He’s really good at saying I don’t make excuses, whilst making excuses. Can’t fault him.

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
Who has said He is a good Manager ?
Plenty have said he is not playing with HIS players.
Most are left here from our 1st season in non league.
His signings have been decent players
Vig' Cisse DJ .
Wilkinson & Angol may do ok , virtually everyone else is left over from Before.
.
If Only Jobi was 32 again.

You continue to lionise him like he is Bill Shankly or something.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 11:06 pmWho has said He is a good Manager ?

Face the facts - He isn’t even remotely in Ian Hendon’s class.

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
For myself, it's not necessarily about being good. I think he's done an OK job in difficult circumstances. Always room for improvement. As to you being perceived as critical, for me, it's because it's too easy to say 'he's rubbish, time to get rid'. You'd have more credibility if, occasionally, you came up with some constructive criticism.

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
Problem is that he is still perceived as a stopgap and people want a proper manager brought in to move the club on from the 'JE Era' but after the 'CF Incident' the club are scared to do so in case they balls it up again so club is in limbo.

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
Nothing results wise but I get the feeling he is growing into the job when listening to him in interviews etc. Seems a tad pissed off and I like that in a manager. Very relaxed when talking and confident. I like that as well. Get the feeling the players got a bolloking after last nights game. It’s his tactical knowledge that worries me. To pick Ling week in and week out albeit he did not play last night suggests someone is either watching with the wrong specs on or perhaps it is coming from above in which case he needs to step out of Ross and go full RED ROSSSS.

New managers inheriting a squad ain’t new. Happens every time a manager changes. For me one of the key skills of a manager is getting the best out of the guys you inherit and maybe adding a few newbies over time.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 13, 2020 11:06 pmWho has said He is a good Manager ?

Personally I think Ross inherited a decent squad, people who have been together a while. Supplemented by a couple of coaches who have also been with us for a while. Stability few new managers could only dream of. The issue is we are under performing by some margin. That may change, hopefully.

The issue is why are we underperforming. I like Ross and believe he can be a good manager but this sticking square pegs into round holes is getting really annoying. Put players in they're best positions and keep them there barring any injuries . For example , play wilkinson has a CF beside Johnson and put JMD on the right side wing instead . Another one is stick Widdowson at LB with Brophy further up field on the left wing where he can run at opposing defences . it's not really rocket science .

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
There you go. He inherited a title winning squad, put together largely by... the same bloke who is actually bringing in the new players now. Trying to blame Embleton's failures on the people that preceded him is a pretty ludicrous excuse.Dohnut wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 10:53 amNew managers inheriting a squad ain’t new. Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
You could well be correct Red, it is getting a bit puzzling with so many players out of position when their replacements sit on the bench. I reckon he's got till Christmas.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 11:56 am The issue is why are we underperforming. We will have to suffer for a period because the board have backed themselves into a corner, minimising our success. Just looking forward to moving on in 6-18 months and actually progressing as a club. Until then, we wait.

Looking on the bright side, if we have a suffer another season of dreck in order to purge the club of the cold, dead hand of this managerial regime, then I'm glad it's one when I don't have to show up and sit through it every week.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 12:11 pm We will have to suffer for a period because the board have backed themselves into a corner, minimising our success. You don't have to show up ever if you don't want to. No one makes you attend.OyinbO wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 12:26 pmLooking on the bright side, if we have a suffer another season of dreck in order to purge the club of the cold, dead hand of this managerial regime, then I'm glad it's one when I don't have to show up and sit through it every week.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 12:11 pm We will have to suffer for a period because the board have backed themselves into a corner, minimising our success. Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
What Red has said is Bang on.
Not sure if any on here are on the Orient supporters Facebook page but the same debate is happening on there & is also as heated.
But bottom line Ross needs to pick the team to play to its strengths & what Red has put alot of supporters have been saying the same thing.
On that page Danny Macklin monitors & comments a lot on, mainly if people have issues with streaming or ordering replica tops etc but the fact that he reads it one wonders if he reports back to Ross what fans are saying & debating.
I personally think he does from some of Ross's comments in his interviews, he hints on certain conversations that I've read in here & the Facebook page.
So is he just being stubborn & thinking "I'm not doing what they think I should do" or is he just tactically clueless?

Re: Seeing as I’m perceived as critical
i think theres a bit of a misconception that people on here call out things because they are 'experts' despite not being a coach or player. The truth is, some of the things that are pointed out week in week out are Guardiolan, they are the most basic of all basic tactics. In league two play the players in the positions they know how to play in, play your best players, defend as a unit, etc...Far out, man.North Stand Dave wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:26 pm What Red has said is Bang on.

Unfortunately I don't think its stubbornness, I think it's overthinking and ultimately ineptitude.

Aye, it's not complicated. He hasn't got a scooby, so all he can do is roll the dice and hope for the best. Occasionally, it comes off.Apple Wumble wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:33 pmi think theres a bit of a misconception that people on here call out things because they are 'experts' despite not being a coach or player. He's just a fan who landed his dream job by some incredible flukes. That's why some people support him, because they can identify with him. But it does mean that his decision making is about on a par with all us numpties who criticise him across social media.

If he's wilfully ignoring tactical advice from a load of inept, unqualified keyboard warriors then, well done, Ross I say.North Stand Dave wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 2:26 pm What Red has said is Bang on.

Not really.
The club got themselves in this mess before Covid and before the financial situation hit.
