Re: Should Boris resign?
'Feel'. Great way to proceed. That’s all most of us have to go on. Nobody knows for sure . Personally I feel a no deal Brexit is not the best solution, but what do I know! What does anybody know! So many conflicting opinions amongst those that “do” like our elected experts. And what a bunch they ar...

Re: Should Boris resign?
Single Transferable Vote. 1. Do you want to Remain or Leave the EU? 2. If Remain wins majority - end of process 3. If Leave wins majority - go to 4. 4. Do you want to Leave the EU with a Deal (must be explained) or No Deal (must also be explained). 5. Whatever the outcome of 4, do it. This is how th...

Re: Should Boris resign?
I suspect Labour are gambling that, if Boris fails to deliver ever a no-deal Brexit by 31st October, his ratings will take a hit. Also, the more time they can keep him in the spotlight the more opportunity for his liberal tendencies to be exposed. He'll find it increasingly more difficult to play th...

Re: Thomas Cook
Shame to see such a High St name disappear. The early & colonial era history of the firm is fascinating. On unrelated -but still travel - news, I’ve got to cancel my month-long Peru/Galapagos jaunt that we were due to start this weekend. Had a bit of an unexplained ache-y leg for a few days. Ha...

Re: Thomas Cook
Thomas Cook, great company but like the many shops on the High Street going bust, a casualty of modern times and people using the internet to buy what they want at cheaper prices. People are now booking their own flights and hotels online. The old way of having shops on the high street where you ca...

Re: Thomas Cook
It's an outdated concept. The merger with MyTravel in 2007 was stupid, as it left the company bloated and burdened with more debt. Most of their customers were lower-income over-65s - a rapidly diminishing customer group. Gutted for the staff however, and for the fact that it was one of the few oper...

Re: Labour Watch
I know it’s disgraceful, yet Corbyn fails to say he had a private education himself. Hypocrisy of the highest order. It's not hypocritical - you cannot blame him for the choices his parents made. What would be hypocritical would be if any of the Labour MPs have sent their own children to private sc...

Good job you’re on hand to point this out. All of the many times I’ve booked via the Ryanair website, I’d never noticed these glitches.

Re: Ryanair
Hate using them; but being forced to use them three times next year for Euro 2020; as nowhere else wants to fly from London to Rome. I flew from London to Rome this Easter. There was a choice of different carriers from Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick and City all offering options. In the end I went wit...

Re: Ryanair
I'm fine with them. So long as you follow instructions, there shouldn't be a problem. They maintain a relatively new fleet of 737s, have an excellent safety record and more often than not get you to your destination on time. Even if they don't, the fault is often with the airport or ATC. That's the ...

Re: Tory Watch
I’m actually surprised that there hasn’t been any fisticuffs yet. It would be like when a fight kicks off between the players on a pitch during a game, and the TV commentator says something ridiculous like “this is not what anyone wants to see.” We’re all thinking; “This is exactly what we want to s...

I don't mind a hung parliament. Sure, it stops any of the parties from getting much done. But on the other hand, it stops any of the parties from getting much done.

Re: Orient Fatigue?
I was an occasional attendee for many years, but a ST holder from the 2006 season until the first year under Beelzebub. That season really drained me, and I just stopped going mid-way through as I could see what was happening to our club. I then rediscovered a lot of things I preferred to do with my...

Re: The UK - last step on the road to dictatorship
There were plenty of people criticising the way the referendum was designed and handled at the time. Even right wing Brexiters like JRM were suggesting a 2-stage process: 1. Hold in/out vote 2. If out wins, negotiate deal then hold confirmatory ref using a transferable vote on remain/leave (with dea...
