What about this bloody weather, eh? thread

Post by slacker »

I’m glad I’ve not got much on today. Far too hot for chores and social obligations. But I’m not one for roasting in the sun, so I’ll be finding a shady spot to keep cool and put my feet up. No doubt there’ll be the usual travesty of peeps exposing their ugly trotters, and other wobbly bits getting sunburnt which they really should be covering up rather than making the rest of us feel a little nauseous.

Glad I'm not over there, Maxy. That was way too unpleasant yesterday.

I'll be lazing in the shade today, but will be on barbeque duties this evening, which I could do without.

Ran half marathon distance earlier this morning. Won't make that mistake when it's this hot again.

Ah barbecue, the other magic word....Luckily I know for a fact some ofmy neighbours have buggered off and hopefully we wont be having none of that today. There does seem to be a strong smell of paint coming from somewhere though which seems more unpleasant.

Skipped mowing the lawn last weekend which has turned out to be a mistake. Just come in to towel down before going back out.

Miss Wumble is sunbathing in the bit I’ve down, reading her book

It's way too hot for the routes I run (limited shade available) and much harder work than usual. Couldn't get anywhere near my best times. Also not feeling particularly amazing afterwards.

Some years ago we went on holiday to the Greek island of Rhodes. One morning, at breakfast time, the holiday rep. came in and said that the expected forecast for that day would be 40c (110f). I've have never known it so hot, absolutely intolerable but
there was no escaping the heat. We spent most of the day in the pool. It must be murder in places like Paris and other major cities.

Remember being at Glasto funny enough, in 2017 and on the first day it was something like 38 degrees. Carrying all my gear in, setting up a tent and then having no real shade almost killed me.
Ended up finding one bit of shade outside the harri Krishna tent, eaten alive by some sort of fire ant. Fell asleep for 2 hours and they were still playing the same song when I woke up

Me and misses are running the kids around their activities and parties. It's an awfully hot day to be sat in a car going from place to place I can tell you.

Then it's off to my sons presentation day for his football team, then me and the misses are off to the London Stadium to watch the Yankess take on the Red Sox and we can't wait!!

34C in my back garden and i am not even breaking into a sweat ! There is me, doing gardening and also repairing my shed roof, sawing wood etc and my young ( mid 30s ) Pakistani neighbour comes out into his back garden for a chat about the latest cricket score and he has sweat pouring off him !! He said dont you feel hot, how can you be working out here in all this heat ? I said it just feels just about right for me !! When I was around 22 before I got injured, used to love playing in the hot weather, I could run virtually non stop for 90 minutes, my team mates nicknamed me ''Alan Ball'' famous English international who like Colin Bell, was a box to box midfielder who covered so much ground in matches. On the other hand I cannot stand the cold winter weather, perhaps I should live abroad for 4 months of the year !!

Seen the Yankees a few times in the States hopefully its gonna be good here. What I do know is the weather will be like it was on July 4th when I saw them first play about 20 years ago at Yankee Stadium.

I'm a Mets fan so there's only one team I'll be supporting.

Was at Yankee stadium a month ago and the Yankees fans were generally arseholes. So go Red Sox I guess.

Not been to the new Yankee stadium. Saw them at the old one back in 2000 on an incredibly hot day. Wonder if the new stadium has attracted nouveau riche twagheads.

In the garden nearly finished one book and hope to start if not finish another today. Bronzy cream factor 15 slapped on and Orient baseball cap on. I’ve lived and worked in the tropics nearly half my life but today is still a hot one to me even here by the seaside in deepest, darkest Suffolk

The only annoyance is the squaking of the seagulls crikey do they make a racket

Paint. That’ll be me decorating a bedroom in the window area with the sun streaming in. Bloody paint was dry on the brush before it hit the wood. Still done now and daughter is cooking the barbie food. So my poor sod neighbours get paint smells followed by burnt burgers.

On a brighter note, a bottle of mcewans headspace scotch whisky beer is going down a treat.
