Matthew Briggs

Once the youngest ever PL player. Still only 28, but now playing in the eighth tier.

I missed his one and only appearance for us but I remember it was much praised and talked about long after.

I’m not suggesting we sign him but you would think he CDAJ in the fifth tier, if not higher, if he can get his act together.

Not sure its about getting his act together...he had to live in colchester to look after his ill partner and couldn't travel up and down the country.

I saw this and thought he could be of interest as backup left back. I didn't realise he'd played for us though.

He first start in league football was for us, against Yeovil in 2010. He was recalled after one game.

Geraint Williams: “Briggs’ performance against Yeovil kick-started our season, because I think since then the back-four’s got on their toes, as they knew that Matthew was wating to get in.”
