Difficult one this, wasn't a great performance but still thought enough there to take a point back with us. Paid for two defensive lapses from set-pieces, back to the training ground to make sure that doesn't become a recurring theme.

Vigoroux - 6 - a cracking save at 1-1 but goal goes straight in from the corner. Couple of wonky kicks.
Akinola - 6 - may have done better for the first but stuck to his task well in general
Happe - 7 - some lovely distribution from the back
Turley - 6 - rash challenge led to free kick for the first, need to watch the set pieces back and potentially revise this rating
Widdowson - 6 - solid enough, works well with Brophy
Cissé - 6 - won some battles against Adams
Clay - 7 - as per Cissé decent performance again
Wright - 5 - would be a 3 or 4 without the goal, there's a noticeable difference compared to having McAnuff in that spot
Wilkinson - 6 - some useful moments, faded a bit second half
Johnson - 5 - didn't really have a sniff again
Brophy - 7 - carried all our threat but FGR kept a tighter reign on him second half

Sotiriou - 5 - looked a bit rusty
Dennis - 5 - no discernible impact and wasted a chance right at the end
McAnuff - 5 - tried to make things happen but they didn't come off for him, a bit too late to make a difference

Feel we got what we deserved, which was nothing.
Could see that goal coming a mile off, they were building all the time.
We were sloppy in possession and our midfield just ain’t good enough. Woodwork and Vigoroux saved us before the inevitable.
Plus points were Brophy, esp first half, Clay. Struggling beyond that.

As ever this season, I neither streamed or listened in. But not too downhearted at reports on this one: FGR one of the stronger sides.

A point for us, though welcome, would have been massively undeserved. Pretty much second best against a strong team.

But it shows we are getting better. This game highlights the difference between us and a strong L2 team who, maybe player for player ain’t that much better in many positions, just look like a strong, positive team who try to play football. We lost our way far too often, resorting to long balls that they mopped up and came at us again.

Disappointing goals to concede. Some slack defensive play. But this is L2 and players are there for a reason. And let’s face it, you get the odd lapse in the Prem. They are human beings.

So no complaints about the loss. The likely outcome after watching the first 10 minutes.

Yup ASAP. We miss his dynamic forward play, his energetic running, fierce tackling, great marking and his annual great pass. 🤣What we do miss is his long throw.

Our recent good run and improved performances are testament to just how much we miss him.

Junior who?

Akinola was not as good as he has been, to be fair.

I'm guessing this many games is having an impact on him.

He had an average game and we all picked up on it. A victim of his previous good performances.
