Home advantage?

Post by Highwood Man »

With there being little chance of fans attending league matches any time soon, is playing at home actually any advantage any more?

Yesterday, out of 13 games played in the Premier league and the Championship, there was just one home win. League 1 did better with 6 home wins out of 11 but in League 2 it was only 2 out of 10.

How often have we heard managers and commentators say that the crowd was like an extra man for us? Those days are gone for the time being and the bigger clubs probably miss the lack of home support more than the smaller sides. So the idea that a draw away from home is a decent result doesn't really stack up in the current climate. Away sides can go out and play much more freely and there is no chance of crowds influencing referee's decisions.

Leeds winning away in injury time as well.

Think it’s an interesting question and think we will see not only the crowd not having an affect on players but there’s interesting questions about the officials being influenced and how many pens Man Utd get at old Trafford this season ;)

Wasn't it nice? All I heard from (Talksport and BBC) pundits in the past few days was how they expected Citeh to win by 3 or 4.

always a massive advantage at Brisbane road, the roar of the South Stand, the high pitch shrill from the north stand, the snoring from the east stand, and the gentle polite nods from the west stand
