Laptop Recommendations

Post by Scuba Diver »

Work has offered to buy/part-buy me a laptop, the caveat being up to the value of £400, unless I want to bump it up myself...

...And I couldn't think of a single better place to gauge the experience of others, other than a lower divisions football message board.

Anyone had any success at that figure? I'd prefer to stick to it, as I already have a (now) personal effort, which I can then retire from work practices.

Any suggestions gratefully received. TIA

The budget always seems to be around that figure for most people and it's a low one. You should be able to find something acceptable at that price, most should come with an SSD type hard drive now, 8GB of ram and a budget to middling processor which is not really important for office work.

I would go down Currys and have a look and see if there is one with a screen that appears bright and comfortable for your eyes and get as long a warranty as you can.

But make sure it does have an SSD as this is essential for performance now. Don't worry about the size as you can cheaply get a large drive for archiving data(will probably be 256GB at that price)
