Will or won't clubs vote for it?
Will the EFL postpone the idea foe 12 months?
We wait with baited breath..............Anyone know where that phrase originated btw?

Waiting with "bated breath" (not baited) holding one's breath in anticipation. Not sure of it's origin.

1.5 million for L2 I believe the higher amount for L1
Good news I say, stops the financial profligacy leading to administration for some clubs and prevents the likes of Salford spending their way out the league

That’s why Bolton and Salford have been signing players before the limit came in.

Bolton doing it already. 14 signings so far and counting, making Salford looking like small fry

Which does raise an interesting point, salary cap but not transfer fee cap. Will end end up another toothless tiger like FFP?

Thanks. Amended my post.
Means that non playing staff are not included in the cap.

I think any players already signed earning over £68,000 will contribute only that amount to the to the budget players under 21? won'y count.

From now on our answer to salary demands will be “sorry but the salary cap won’t allow us to pay that much”

Not just us though DuvB all clubs will use it in negotiations - puts a bit more pressure on players/agents don't you think?

What part do fees play in this eg pay a player small wage but large signing on fee ( wages up front )

Glad to see agents' fees included in the cap, hopefully might make clubs think twice about paying these parasites and cut them down to size

Clubs in League Two voted 22-2 in favour of the salary cap, it basically gives clubs in the lower leagues more power when negotiating contracts than all the players and to ensure they all stay in business and live within their means.
Can't see too many players moving South if this fully kicks in within the next few seasons though, due to living costs being more expensive in the South, particularly London.
We'll need to get single players who sign for us flat sharing with each other to half the costs, but I think we do that anyway

That's the big downer for London clubs particularly. We didn't get many from truly up North but someone from, say Midlands area would think twice... £1500 in London vs up North doesn't go nearly as far.
Almost fits in with the idea of splitting the leagues North and South as was mooted at one point if enough clubs go bust in event of another lockdown.

I was told by someone at the Club that the reason why the idea of a 'London ''weighting allowance' was not considered was that most players live outside of London eg in Essex, Kent and Surrey and they travel in (Coxy always lived in Sussex.)

Its much more expensive to live in any of those places than scunthorpe.

In that case I was just wondering have we been too slow in signing any more new players

6 of our players are under 21, so they don't count. So, 18 are here already so capped (18 x £68K), means that we have £276k left to play with.
Mind you, taxes, fees, bonuses etc. are also included, so I dunno what that would all add up to.

Bit confusing, I thought it was £1.5 million rather than £1.2 Million for League 2 ?
Wonder how all this will pan out and how can they enforce it this season or the season after ( if they do ) with some players who are already signed on long term contracts at high wages that will probably take some clubs over this salary cap of £1.5 Million.
League 1 and 2 clubs vote in favour of 'squad salary cap'
The EFL have announced that clubs in League One and League Two have today voted for the introduction of new financial controls in the form of ‘Squad Salary Caps’ into their respective divisions which take effect immediately.

Hang on, if a club had 24 players on existing contracts, all capped at £68k, wouldn't that put them over the limit?!!
Sorry - answering my own question... it's a cap, so not all will be set at that rate. Doh!

Probably more I bet some don't earn £68k
If some only earn £40K that's what they will use. I think the club have been quite canny waiting till after the cap was introduced gives us a bit of leverage in negotiations.
