U.S war with China.
I am seriously thinking the orange gibbon might actually go for it. This news out of Hong Kong is shocking (don’t expect our government to say or do anything). Trump knows the election is lost unless something dramatic happens. The U.S also knows that unless it goes to war we are heading for a global depression.

Re: U.S war with China.
I cant see it. What's more likely is a regional proxy war. Also, do you really think Biden will win?

Cant see anyone helping out HK right now.
Can see Trump pressuring US companies to bring their manufacturing home from China.

Absolute rubbish, President Trump not the "Orange Gibbon" That opening line losses you the discussion before it even starts. Hong Kong is not our Territory any more. We and the United States's only option is Isolate China, bit hard as China has second largest economy but only option, President Trump will be re-elected regardless, you are so out of touch with the US population, your last statement is ludicrous how do you win a nuclear warBeradogs wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 7:59 am I am seriously thinking the orange gibbon might actually go for it. That was a game. Beradogs thinks a nuclear war is winnable, which as we all know is not possible has he not heard of "MAD"Disoriented wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 8:46 amBy pressing the green button first.point nine one eight wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 8:43 amAbsolute rubbish, President Trump not the "Orange Gibbon" That opening line losses you the discussion before it even starts. Re: U.S war with China.
Why do you think it would be a nuclear war? I think someone else is being ludicrous. The chances of it being nuclear are pretty much zero. Here is one example of how it may play it. It’s an interesting read and you may learn something.point nine one eight wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 8:43 amAbsolute rubbish, President Trump not the "Orange Gibbon" That opening line losses you the discussion before it even starts. I don’t mind Trump so you are getting you’re knickers in a twist with the wrong person. I am playing to the audience and in desperate need of some likes.

Re: U.S war with China.
Trump is such a c**t, that he might do something like this, its election year remember, and his record on Coronavirus is appalling.
I dont think anyone in their right mind would use nuclear weapons, but then Trump is far from a man in his right mind.
My fear is, the losing side might use nukes , because they're losing.
America has massive advantage on weapons because they spend more than all the countries in the world combined on weapons, but any wars from now on between major powers will be fought in a cyber way as well as conventionally. If one side can hack into the other sides computers and foul up their plans, they are at a huge advantage
Hopefully it wont happen, but with the orange gibbon in charge who knows

Re: U.S war with China.
Can't see what will happen beyond a few stern words, an attempted UN resolution - which Russia will veto- and maybe some extra sanctions, myself. What would the US/Europe gain (or lose) by seriously backing a few pesky HK student protesters beyond that? Nope, they'll be left to rot.

Re: U.S war with China.
If not a war, then what will the Orange Gibbon do to cling on to power ? (if indeed he needs to). Declare an emergency and cancel November's election?
Re: U.S war with China.
I read that one of the reasons he is so popular amongst his own supporters is that the more the left try to attack him and them (the "stupid racists" argument and similar) the more entrenched they become and resistant to consider voting for anyone else.StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 2:35 pm If not a war, then what will the Orange Gibbon do to cling on to power ? Whilst it's a pretty poor way to proceed, and perhaps even a self-fulfilling prophecy (at least the "stupid" bit) it does go some way to explaining why his popularity rating doesn't change much.
From that perspective he probably doesn't need to do much at all (as I think you alluded to)
It's the same argument some use on this board (all tories/brexiteers are stupid racists)

Might not be just China, as the O.G has pulled out of
the open skies treaty because of

or, indeed, the argument that anyone criticising the government's current performance is just a "lefty" or a "whinger" or a "remoaner", rather than, perhaps, someone who cares about the number of deaths in the country and is voicing that.faldO wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 2:58 pmI read that one of the reasons he is so popular amongst his own supporters is that the more the left try to attack him and them (the "stupid racists" argument and similar) the more entrenched they become and resistant to consider voting for anyone else.StillSpike wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 2:35 pm If not a war, then what will the Orange Gibbon do to cling on to power ? I think all sides become more entrenched - I think that's a function of Social Media, to be honest. Everyone (and I do mean everyone, not just the lefties) has their views amplified and reinforced, and sees the other side's arguments as attacks, rather than viewpoints.
