Tom Jones
My wife is watching the voice, and Tom Jones is singing and his voice is amazing and I had to look it up, he is 79 and he can still sing like that. Amazing talent and voice.

I've sometimes wondered what it must feel like up there on stage and having all these women throw their knickers at you . It must feel fantastic . Lucky Barsteward .

Re: Tom Jones
That was Billy Fury who was known early in his career as Britain's answer to Elvis. They were actually photographed together exchanging silver discs on the set of the Elvis film 'Girls, Girls, Girls'. Anorak moment there.... I apologise.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:14 pm Britain's answer to Elvis Presley. He's a living legend .

Never understood why women would want to do this and also cannot understand why any male singer would like that to happen while he is singing.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 7:44 amI like women but I don't fancy any women's underwear thrown at me in any situationRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:16 pmI've sometimes wondered what it must feel like up there on stage and having all these women throw their knickers at you . I suppose these ardent women fans used to take the underwear in their handbags to these shows, all ready there for them to throw onto the stage at their time of choosing ? I stand corrected, but cannot think that men would want to do the same sort of thing if going to an attractive woman singers concert !

He rode race horses, boxed at a good level, wrote novels, did stunts in the 1930s early 40s films and traveled all over the world, a colourful character indeed.

Re: Tom Jones
He died in around the year 2000. My cousin is in her 90s and she is the last link to what he did in his life. He was a bit of a mystery man, my cousin reckons he was also an acquaintance of Princess Grace of Monaco and gave her a painting as a present, who knows ? He traveled all over the world could well imagine him visiting Raffles in Singapore in the 1930s !Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:01 amI bet his memoirs would make interesting reading.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:00 amHe did indeed, my uncle was a legendary sort of character in my family, many RIPPING yarns still told about his exploits ! !

Raffles must have been something at the turn of the century.

Re: Tom Jones
Possibly but I've always felt Tom Jones style of singing was nearer to Elvis Presley's than Cliff Richard . That's just my opinion but I'm sure others would disagree .spen666 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 7:46 amI thought that was Cliff RichardRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 11:14 pm Britain's answer to Elvis Presley. Re: Tom Jones
My uncle was a man of his times, my Grandfather ( my uncles father ) also led an interesting life, went to America with his brother when he was 13 years old and lived with a family who semi adopted him, made his wealth there and came back to England when he was in his 20s and started his own building company which built many houses in outer London, he did many other things beside.Disoriented wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:11 amWhat a time to be travelling the world.Sid Bishop wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 10:09 amHe died in around the year 2000.
