Why don't we give Ogie a run out? Either he's good enough or he is not.

This is only a personal opinion but I find it really tiresome when fans start calling for youth to be given a chance at times of crisis.

This is because it is not the right time to introduce inexperience into an already underperforming side.

The actual solution is to have either built a squad with depth with adequate positional replacements or for an experienced manager to identify the issue early doors and to bring in a suitable replacement(s).

Rubbish. There never seems to be a ‘right time’ with this sort of attitude.

I see your point MBG but sometimes it might work. A bit oF a refresher to the team might buck them up.

That's what I've been saying . If he's not good enough yet then why have him on our bench taking up a place . Give the lad his chance because Happe is no LB.

As another Jock said.........''Alan Hansen - You can't win anything with Kids'' - MOTD 1995

Alan Hansen, on August 19, 1995 announced on Match of the Day that "You'll never win anything with kids" after a young Manchester United side lost the season opener to Aston Villa 3-1. However, we now all know that Fergie's team of youngsters including David Beckham, the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt were able to wrestle the title back from Blackburn Rovers, and also win the FA Cup, securing the first of what was to be two consecutive double-winning seasons, a feat never before seen in English football.
Hansen's statement was to famously inspire a t-shirt slogan that became popular with the Old Trafford faithful. At the time Hansen tried to qualify his rash prediciton by claiming that the great Bill Shankly had said it back in the 1970′s, but he has since admitted this to be the biggest blunder of his media career.

Don't be childish. Argue properly or you're back on foe.

I implicit in my opinion is the position that there are right times to introduce youth. For example, play them when the team is stable and performing well or toward the end of a season when promotion and relegation issues have been settled.

Trouble is, if it isn't a time of crisis, then things are stable - and you could well argue against disrupting a stable team with youth.

Personally, I like to see new youngsters play. One of the few advantages we have as a lower league outfit is the ability to be able to tell our younger players they have a real shot of getting in the first team if they're good enough.

But if we're always cautious and play the same players no matter what (looking at you Mr Clay) then it dissipates that.

In addition, we may unearth a real gem who we might have a shot of selling on for a decent fee, and push the team forward in the meantime.

We will never move forward with a team of journeymen.

I'm not arguing for a team of journeymen. A blend favouring youth is my preference.

I also don't disagree with your preferred strategy but being so close to relegation with a dysfunctional team won't be turned around by an injection of raw youth.

I don't think we will be relegated this season, although I reckon we'll be closer to it than we would like.

My understanding/hope was that this season would be one of consolidation, with a view to pushing for promotion next year.

This season is looking like a write-off to me, with the management/DoF scenario having not progressed one jot; so if we assume for the sake of argument that we are safe then we should at least be trying to learn something about the capabilities of the current youth. Can they be much worse than what we have?

Honestly, the same players are underperforming week in week out, and maybe we should just throw caution to the wind, because the progress I'm seeing is only in one direction.

Sorry, New Year makes me grumpy.

Completely agree. It's usually followed with 'well they can't be any worse'. We saw in 2017 that throwing youth players in is not a good idea.

You haven't called out anything because you have not presented a properly thought out counter opinion.

You often adopt this approach and it just makes you look like a stupid person. I'm not convinced you are. So raise your levels or it's foe time again.

The only questions to be asked is who is the better player and who compliments the team, age is just a number.
My view is ogie should be given game time.

All we hear on the board is no central midfield, Kyprianou gets a chance and is apparently M.O.M. Not selected since. Struggling up front, Sotoriou makes 2 appearances 2 goals. Will he start at Walsall?
Nothing special about our left back first choices so why is it such a problem in giving Ogie a chance. You might have another home grown talent to cheer. Knowing the O's there may never be a good time to play them. Lets wait until there 25 years of age and mature, not experienced though, they never got the chance! Actually they probably wont be here come next season.
Be brave it's a new year tomorrow maybe a new begining.
Happy New Year to everyone.
