Orient player of the month
Josh Wright
James Brophy
Lee Angol
Sam Ling
Sam Ling. The club really took Dickenson's criticism to heart. f*cking hell.

Brophy or Wright for me. We've had some good performances without anyone being exceptional during the whole month. I'd probably just about go for Brophy, though Wright's goals make it close.

Ling for me, in terms of improvement from last season. Sort of reminiscent of the similar leap up in standards from Widdowson this time last year.

Tough one ain't it. No one has really hit the ground running. They've obviously had to use a bit of filler to come up with 4 names. Angol and Brophy I guess I can get. Wright has been bang average but has a couple of goals from midfield, so can see how he's been squeezed in. Literally no idea how Ling has made it onto the shortlist. Mind-bottling.
I'd go for Clay. He's carried on as he finished last season.
Re: Orient player of the month
Nobody has really stood out so far, IMO. Like the results it is a mixed bag of performances.
Dan Happe has probably been the best defender for me, a slip up against Macclesfield but did well out of position against Crawley. Defence has been the biggest let down so far, quite a few bad goals conceded.
Brophy had the stand out game against Stevenage without producing much but then is one of the few players along with Dennis that can actually take on and beat a man. For me, still a case of more flashiness over quality, a League Two Jason Demetriou.
Wright has been a bit better than I expected, never gonna deliver an eye-catching performance but has weighed in with two goals and done what he is good at.
Clay as well has gone OK too although ultimately in his spot I think we can bring in someone with a bit more quality who works just as hard.
Angol has been pretty good despite not having much service in the 5-3-2 formation. Early days but I think he's better than Bonne.
I'd go for Angol or Wright myself but I can see they are unpopular choices.

Brophy and Angol have played well other than that, none of them deserve it

Alabi - most consistent player in an O's shirt. Same performance every outing.

Dennis in patches, Happe too but not sure either have done enough in enough games to warrant it.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 1:19 pmBrophy and Angol have played well other than that, none of them deserve it
The inclusion of Ling has left me speechless.

It's a tough one. I'd probably go for Brophy as when he gets the ball you feel something might happen because he goes past players. The trouble is his end product is nearly always wanting.
Re: Orient player of the month
Aside from Coulson, Ekpiteta, Brill and JMD I think any of the first team regulars could have gone on there and it would have been OK.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 1:26 pm Don’t see any issues with the names on that list at all
Think the issue is more with the narrative, quite reserved for Lee Angol 'a good start' to gushing praise for Ling 'a brilliant month', 'excellent performances'.
Now I don't think Ling has been bad. I don't believe he should have gone into the season in front of Judd, but he has, and he has kept his place on merit. But it seems a vast exaggeration to be saying those sort of things. Nobody has been excellent or had a brilliant month.

Correct choosing those 4,
But Brophy easily, his engine is roaring & creates excitement every time he plays(am aware of his end product) but still he wins it for me,

He just needs some surgery boffins to fit him with a functioning right foot.

In talking about end product, at least Wright has two goals. He may not excite, but it's Wright for me.Andersonitis wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 2:19 pm Correct choosing those 4,

Actually surprised Super Marvins not in there.
I noticed Brophy leading by 46% on the twitter link.

Re: Orient player of the month
Different players, totally. Angol is the replacement for Koroma, Wilkinson is who you need to compare against Macca.
But yeah, he's definitely shown enough to warrant such talk.

Re: Orient player of the month
Nice overanalysin'. Or you know you could just say that these four have probably been our most consistent performers to date and the club had to write something positive. None of them will give a f*** about who got the most superlatives on Twitter FFSeagwgw wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 1:45 pmAside from Coulson, Ekpiteta, Brill and JMD I think any of the first team regulars could have gone on there and it would have been OK.Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 1:26 pm Don’t see any issues with the names on that list at all

Ling? Have the club employed Comical Ali?
Clay for me - a consistent start to the season from the lad.
