New Year’s resolutions 2025

Post by CEB2ElectricBoogaloo »

Who has any?

Mine
1: be a bit more professional about the doodles - better website, take my shop seriously
2: lose two stone
3: retire from playing football after one last chaos cup
4: No posting on THAT thread (have said all I need to say on the matter :D)
5: actually learn to drive

Simply stop doing the things I don’t want to do and do the things I do want to do. Sounds straightforward but the amount of stuff I do that causes me anxiety, or stress, or boredom is too much.

Also need to take health and diet a bit more seriously, getting back into the home gym and focusing on stretching and movement more than getting hench.

Getting obsessed again with music. Playing and listening

I'm training to get back into necking several pints in the pub, and then grabbing a donner on the way home to watch Get Stuffed.

Forgot about Get Stuffed. I used to spend Friday evenings as a 12 year old drawing in me bedroom listening to radio 5, then I’d listen to Rave! With Rob Brydon, then sneak downstairs and turn on the telly to watch the Chart Show and Get Stuffed, and if I was really on a late one, I’d watch Packet of Three with Frank Skinner

EDIT:

I just have the two this year:

1. No more message board feuds
2. Be more open about discussing non-football related topics on a League One football forum.

Small adjustments really:

More water, less caffeine (am an horrendous coffee-hound).

As a former smoker who now vapes, and consumes only the 3mg strength (1/3 nicotine of the average cigarrette, and disposable vapes are 20mg), I would like to cut this out too. It doesn't 'seem' to be having a detrimental effect in the gym etc, but of course no-one knows the long-term effects.

Go abroad more to hang out/work - I've been very lucky to be bestowed a fully-remote contract so gonna use that to spend less time either in the South East, or the UK, in general.

With you on the coffee. Worked out I spend c.£150 a month on takeaway coffees which over a year is ludicrous.

That means I’ll drink 8 cups a day so the resolution is no takeaway coffees in January and February and cut back to 4 cups at home a day.

Buy a decent coffee machine? 150 a month is insane. Even if you spent 500 on a machine and 50 a month on beans you’d be saving money after 4-5 months.

Aeropress is excellent as well for about 30 quid

The aeropress has to be the best gadget money can buy. I also bought a filter machine and buy a monthly bulk order of Kenyan Blue Mountain grind. I hardly ever pay for takeaway coffee anymore.

Get up to Brisbane Rd for a match at least once this year.

Happy New Year, all.

Yeah, total waste of money. It’s more when I’m out and about, which I am a lot for work.

At home I’m happy just drinking instant. Going to start taking a flask when I’m out on manoeuvres.

The saving over a year is a decent holiday, which I plan to save the cash on. However, still happy playing £7+ for a pint so the lunacy just continues elsewhere.

This is a good shout actually RTW, and decent economics too.
I'm probably dropping about the same as LPE each month as well.
I justify it as, we get free coffee at work, and I take sarnies rather than dropping £10-13 a day in Pret on one of the other outlets on lunch, but still it mounts up...
'Some' of it is the social side (as a non drinker), but £1,800 a year is insane when you break it down and needs addressing.
