For 99.9% of the population in their 20’s and 30’s who get into a bit of bother in the early hours it’s just one of those things. For Owen, the streets are full of far right thugs out to get him because he is on the left and Gay. Bet they didn’t have a clue who he was.

2am Saturday morning and he gets assaulted. I hope its not for his personal beliefs; its far more likely to be a random act of violence at that time than at almost any other point during any given week. Because someone was beaten up, it does not make the assailants fascists - it makes them criminals.

I wish I had the self-confidence to be able to form opinions like this, without feeling the need to know any of the facts. It must feel very empowering.

Would be interested to know how he could tell they were far right, were they wearing MAGA hats?

The bloke is an absolute tosser but this is disgraceful - nobody deserves to be assaulted for having a different view to someone else

Yes, because tipping a milk shake onto someone's suit whilst they're surrounded by security thugs is exactly the same thing as 4 blokes punching and kicking 1 bloke to the ground.

Read his account of what happened. He was singled out, his friends were not set upon. They of course came to his aid but it wasn't random.

As for others saying that Owen approved of similar attacks, throwing a milkshake at someone is completely different to being jumped on and kicked by a group of thugs.

Its the principle though, he thought it okay for someone to be attacked for their views. Now I dont think this is right, I just dont have much sympathy for him. The motive is also thus far unproven.

Btw both actions are unacceptable; being beaten up for one's beliefs more so.

Agree totally, all guises are dangerous. Though it's totalitarianism that's the dangerous thing rather then just fascism or libertarianism mislabelled as fascism.

In regards to the most in your face facism which I guess you are referring to, the issue of Islamofascism and Wahhabism is a big one but the western left often come to the defence of these which is a major issue. This has contributed to the rise of traditional western far right fascism which also needs stamping out at the same time. The human race is f*cked.

We could even open up the debate about the far left/antifa, who are maybe the most realistic example of fascists around at the current time if we want simple labels.
