Ticket Sales for Bolton on Saturday

Post by Cheshunto »

Surprised to see lots of seats , particularly in the East Stand, still to be sold for Saturday’s opener.
Is £30 for an adult too much and are many going to watch on Sky instead ??

Late kick off, summer hols, the price is mental. I can only afford one game in the first 4 home games and can’t justify this one.

OTF might have made plans to be elsewhere?

I’ll probably be going to the local National League South team where it’s a 3pm kick off and £10 entry

5 30pm is just about the worst time they could have thought of to start a game.

Sky deal don’t look that great if we’re losing significantly on attendances.

I dunno, it's Great value for the powers that be that would like to remove the issue of uppity lower league clubs objecting the their end game of removing promotion and relegation.

Wall to wall coverage of half empty stadiums can be used to great effect when explaining to Starmer and Co why they don't need to worry about resurrecting any football governance bills as the football league is dead anyway.

I believe that the 5.30 kick off time will be a convenient excuse/cover for the attendance being below par, anyway.

Just had a look on line - loads in the East Stand unsold but not that many elsewhere.

Attendances in August are generally always down. Not checked my facts but last seasons opener may have been an exception as we were champions and against the eventual L1 champions.

£30 @ 5:30pm does nothing to attract the casual fan though. It may as well be a 7pm kick off for all of the disruption to people's social lives.

I believe that the new deal is going to see a potentially seismic shift in our attendances. Particularly if we have a poor start to the season the lure of Sky (many, but I know not all, will have a subscription already that will cover the games of ours that will be shown) is going to increase by the week. Yes the hardcore of our support will attend regardless but normal Saturday and Tuesday routines are already out of the window in the first 2 weeks. I don’t discount the holiday aspect of a lower attendance this week but many of us are I suspect starting to feel like the least loved part of the football money bandwagon. The Club needs to compete for people’s cash and the overall experience without fixture disruption is already only at an acceptable level. Add the fixture dates and timings uncertainty and a seat on the sofa could be a very attractive proposition to some.

Ticket prices rule a lot of matches out for many.

When going to Saturday away games you accept that this often means a very early start and late return. For home games, depending on queues at Leyton underground I can usually get home by 19.30pm. A 17.30 ko dictates a home arrival of after 22.00 . Too late to eat with family so cost of attending home game will now rise as supper will have to be factored in.
Does anyone ever think about fans who already spend 4-5 hours travelling to ‘home’games. If this is going to become the norm then my 40+ years as a ST holder will probably end at the start of 24/5 season. Evening home games already mean a return home c 00.30 but time to have a proper lunch at home.

For me, a 12.30 kick-off just feels wrong.

It is. It means you’re attending the game sober and that’s never a good idea.

Early season games always have lower attendances. Many people still on holiday. This is nothing new

Yes, we all know this. I'm saying I reckon our attendance will be down, anyway, owing to a not so good feel factor at the club at this moment in time.

If you turn up at 12:30 on Saturday it'll definitely feel wrong.

Sky TV or television companies run football though, dictating to clubs, and fans when they will play ie what time on which day.
Football has sold its soul for a few hundred grand………it will be interesting to see how many 9,000 plus gates we get this season and whether the search for a new stadium is put on ‘hold’.
It’s a delicate balance of course but high ticket prices won’t help much.

It’s basically the same before every season. If we have a good few wins in the first month the spirit of fans will be up

The fact that they can change games on an international break at short notice is another two fingers up.

For someone who can’t get down there as much anymore it doesn’t make too much difference and might even be beneficial as I get to watch more games. But it’s the away fans I feel for. Some ridiculous scheduling already from sky. They couldn’t care less and I don’t think most owners could either

Our capacity is under 9k so we won't get one above that
