Mick McQuaid wrote: Fri Mar 20, 2020 8:03 am Very pleased that my job in social care has been elevated from 'low skilled' to key worker status overnight so I can continue to go to work. I'm sure it's just the cynic in me that doubts that this might lead to a longer term reappraisal of our value, or that there might be any other assistance than instructing other poorly paid workers to keep going in order to help us keep working. Particularly after Matt Hancock has already fulfilled his promise to make sure we all have the required protective equipment that we can't get hold of through normal channels by sending every registered care home, no matter how big or small, the arbitrary number of 300 surgical face masks. And nothing else. Cheers. I'm sure the slight oversight that the massive rise to deregister properties over the last decade means there are many more supported housing services that got nothing will also be corrected soon.
Cynicism is the natural reaction to the government we have. Like you, I fully expect that your elevated status will disappear into the ether when it suits BoJo and chums. Much as it will for NHS workers, Teachers and all the other emergency staff. It's all just hot air with BoJo. He'll say whatever he thinks people want him to say but do bugger all to back up his words. It's a tragedy that we're faced with this virus and a tragedy that the UK is being guided through it by a lying, amoral, inept piece of crap like Boris. Thanks and best wishes to you and your colleagues for what you do by the way.

This, this and more this.

Mods - you have to take some responsibility here. I know it's not what you signed up for when running a board for a League 2 team, but allowing posts to crackpot theories and links to who knows what is massively irresponsible. If even one person follows some of these links and takes bad advice, and ends up harming themselves or others, then that's partly on you.

Please, if you can, be more proactive and remove posts which send people down these internet rabbit holes or promote bad science, practice or false hope.
Which post in particular are you objecting to?

I think it's probably one boarder he's objecting to. For clarity it's Thor.

I’m quite enjoying Thor’s tin foil hat stuff, tbh. It’s an amusing distraction. Maybe the old colour codes should be adhered to: green for conspiraloon tripe and orange for ironic stuff. COYOs played along with the former when he was spouting paedogeddon accusations about MPs/establishment lizards a few years back.

So looks like I come under the term "Key worker" in this fight against Covid-19, (you're welcome). Never in doubt tbh

Anybody else in the same boat? Surprised Timpsons staff didn't make the list

Anyways, does anybody think BoJo has measured up to his hero, Churchill, in this crisis? I’d say he’s fallen far short so far, and after only a few days of trying to rein it in & sound statesmanlike in the daily briefings, just can’t help himself and reverted to trite buffoonery yesterday.

Mirror reporter took him to task a few days ago, whilst he was going on about respirators, he talked about a last gasp effort. She thought it was intended as a quip and told him, it was most inappropriate.

Despite the hundreds of Billions announced to keep businesses running, there is still no actual process apparently on how this money can be claimed.

It sounds great.......in theory - but how is it going to work in practice; particularly for small businesses that will have 'gone under' within the next fortnight?

This incompetent tory government love their three word soundbytes - the recovery plan will apparently deliver "what it takes" (does this remind you of 'get it done')? However, beyond the sound byte from this new 'wide boy' Chancellor, there is absolutely no structure or process. My company have already tried. It's actually akin to war time propaganda. Truly astounding.

I just wonder how much of this financial package claimed by larger companies, will end up in tax-free havens such as The Caymen Islands; whilst people currently working for these companies will, or have indeed already, ended up on the dole?

I know.....people can claim Universal Credit if they are struggling to survive right now; because, as we all know, that system is working so well. :clown

He was asked yesterday what he specifically meant by 'turn the tide' on the virus, all he did was use another soundbite 'get on top of it'.

An embarrassment to the nation and as my (Irish) friend would say: "sh*t for brains".
Yep his “last gasp mask “ comment didn’t go down well in the press conference

I will be making no further comments on the coronavirus pandemic.

Stay safe all, help each other and the vulnerable it's time to come together.

Good luck to all and good health as well.

I've been working on a two word "slogan of action" and think I may have cracked it - "Remove Boris".

This man is a danger to the country and must be removed without delay.

I've had several people say to me how they either feel sorry for Boris or how well he's doing, so this doesn't surprise me.

Terrifying, innit.
