Me too but he really needs to up his game and put some real graft into fitness & conditioning. The injury meant he was always up against it last season but if he's the same come August then there's no hope.BIGRON wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 1:08 pmI reckon Gorman will come good this season .Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 12:39 pmSuch as? Spent the second part of last season on loan at Lincoln and only made two appearances from the subs bench . That doesn't fill me with much confidence .PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 7:03 am Orient appear to have made a bid for Shrewsbury striker Lee Angol

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Yeah, that is a little bit of an alarm bell though they did win the division and he was clearly kept out by better forwards/a better partnership. They may have just wanted to sign him as cover. If we're signing him for the same reason, along with a second better forward coming in, then I'm fine with this since he has a decent track record at this level and will be determined to prove himself.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 1:25 pmSpent the second part of last season on loan at Lincoln and only made two appearances from the subs bench . I thought he was rather good when we played them at their place. He has bulked up as well from his days here on loan, I'd dig that move.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 1:22 pmShaq Coulthirst from Barnet would be better .The Big Shot wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 11:16 amWhat player would you bid for instead?Disoriented wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 10:08 am

We need in my opinion a proven goal scorer not someone who we hope might score. This isn't a comment on Angol as I don't know the player well enough to say yah or nah.
I certainly love to see Rose here as some have suggested, maybe he'd take that chance to play league football at his age? Who knows if you don't try.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Seems a bit like Josh Wright - ie, southern lad gone up North with big expectations, hasn't delivered, now the fans are glad to see the back of him. Getting him settled might give him a performance boost.
Danny Cowley had a lot of good things to say about him and his supposed Championship-level talent, but reading the Shrewsbury opinion it seems that he needs the right manager to play for and might be an obtuse character if not.
Got little interest in what happened before now. The 'Bonne scored no goals and turned out right' can be dug out for any unproven striker we sign. With £700k in the bank, the argument is whether we should have to take a gamble at this stage.
That said, I think it could be good business if the fee is not high and reflects that they want him gone. Might be fair to say League 2 is about his level.
I do think we need to wary of this year. Even when we had Justin, I didn't think we were any more than a mid-table side. Losing Bonne and Koroma has probably downgraded that a few places (as I reckon we won't improve on them), and due to his sad passing we are much worse off on the manager side as well.
So Angol probably aint the type of guy that a top table League 2 side would go for, but that ain't us at the moment. This season IMO, all about transitioning without getting relegated.

Most if not all the £700k will stay in the bank and thus reduce the amount the owners need to inject into the club this coming season. Probably.

I recall Teague saying players had a price and if they go the money would be used to strengthen the team. So I’d hope the club would reinvest this money, or part of it, developing the squad. Or it’s a return to the Hearn years of develop and sell. Sell anything that weren’t nailed down.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
If he is a fourth striker behind two decent forwards then it’s a great move. The guy has potential and seems to have bags of energy. Him and Harold on the bench seems to offer a greater variety of substitution according to the game situation.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 3:43 pm I shall be a tad disappointed if we bring Angol here as we can do better
I always felt that with two strikers promised one would be good and the other a bench warmer. I just hope he isn’t the good one.
Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Nicky Ajose I reckon could be good, free agent after leaving Charlton.
Very good for Ling/Embleton at Swindon. Until going Mansfield had not dropped below L1.
Linked with other clubs but personal connection might swing it.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Wouldn't write Lee Angol off if we get him, He was very good for Lincoln the year they went up. Bit like Koroma in that he needs a manager to put an arm around him and give him some confidence. Knowing Shrewsbury want Dan Happe I'm hoping we haven't given them an idea about a player plus cash deal .
Danny Rose from Mansfield - yes please. Never gives defenders a moments peace, always on the move and an eye for a goal. He's available but as a northern lad can we entice him here? there are two or three clubs in the North West interested in taking him.
Shaq Coulthirst - Again yes please - ran us ragged last season at their place but I don't think Barnet would want to sell him.

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
Fair question. He went to Lincoln on loan, on the last day of January, this year, and only played 2 games. Now i reckon the two brothers in charge of Lincoln are pretty shrewd operators, and they only gave him 2 games. His only season of a decent goals tally is non league .
At least angol has got to double figures in a League season before
As well as a good non league return.
If Coulthirst aas doing what Assombolonga was id say yeah ok

Re: Orient bid for Lee Angol
So many opinions, but nobody has seen him play or know much about him. They were raving about him early on at Shrewsbury, there is a podcast. But he may not have settled in, who knows.
If we do sign him, then we can judge, whether he is good or not.

Yes , hopefully because he'd be a very good signing. I would view him as a straight swap for Koroma
