Re: New stadium
Someone tell the powers that be that Thurrock has £1.5bn debt, so must be absolutely desperate for some whacky money making schemes. This is after all, what got Thurrock in to it's financial mess. They don't mind an "investment " or two. It would be an ideal place for an Ori-Stadium. If you went much further East you would be in Sarfend or the North Sea. Loads of waste land all over the place. Situated right on the A13, M25, Dartford Crossing and the soon ( maybe ) to be Lower Thames Crossing. It is on a line from Fenchurch St. And we could open up an Orient shop at Lakeside. It would be nice & convenient for me too. But heated seats are essential.

Re: New stadium
I don't think that's right. They've published a masterplan setting out what they think the site can take in terms of housing numbers and infrastructure, but city of London are delaying their site move which implies they've retained ownership for now.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 7:56 pmIt has. It's pretty unlikely we'll have the money to compete for room on a site that is slated for thousands of homes but nothing there is close to being finalised and I'd be surprised if the ownership weren't at least testing the waters for a co-development there or on the ASDA site which will also be redone in the next decade.

Re: New stadium
So, you want to sit in a stand built on a bog/brownfield site, close to the Thames, in one of the most barren and depressing areas in Essex, under the pretext that in some space time continuum arrangement this would be 'Orient'?Friend or faux wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 8:34 am Someone tell the powers that be that Thurrock has £1.5bn debt, so must be absolutely desperate for some whacky money making schemes. Sorry fella, but I do not get the rationale behind that at all.

What we want is going to be irrelevant.
However, I'm pretty sure our American Overlords are going to want their plaything to remain in London, thankfully.

Re: New stadium
I still think the old mini golf course on lea bridge rd would be the best place . It’s already got a building on it so it’s already a brownfield site.
Re: New stadium
Explaining to local nimbys why it’s a good idea wouldn’t take too much effort. Around 95% of local residents would come around to it quickly if they understand that the future of a football club depends on such a move.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 1:21 pmI think you would find you would be wrong on that assumption .
Granted, not everyone is an orient fan, but spurs and Arsenal and West Ham have all moved grounds in recent years so they wouldn’t begrudge orient the land.
Let’s be honest, a few bird watchers and laughing gas addicts aren’t really a reason to leave that area untouched. Eventually that land is going to have to be either a stadium or an industrial estate.

Exactly. That part of Leyton, especially compared to Brisbane road, is in no man's land.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 2:18 pmTransport links are terribleRedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 1:23 pm I still think the old mini golf course on lea bridge rd would be the best place . Re: New stadium
Excellent idea. Although it's a bit of a shift away from Orient's traditional location, it still provide nearby tube access and is better use of the land that for the odd disease-ridden duck.CEB wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 1:39 pmExplaining to local nimbys why it’s a good idea wouldn’t take too much effort. Got to admit that the café onsite is a bit of a disappointment anyway, so any upgrade to coincide with the opening of a new stadium would be welcome. Lots of the new-Walthamstownian luvvies tend to take their Jarcindas and Tarquins down there for some Fairtrade organic cashew butter on wholemeal sourdough toast. Even they should come around to the idea though, once they realise that there's the prospect of an Orient burger and lager instead.

Re: New stadium
Really? But it’s just down the road. You have the Stratford line running along Orient Way with a station at Leabridge Rd . Where else is there in the local area….nowhere.Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 2:32 pmExactly.
