I have just gone back on the NYT website for the first time in forever and seen their Connections game - it's much better than Wordle.

Shall I do a few of your highlights, DEB? My favourites are when you tick all the boxes of a rubbish 2nd guess that looks amazingly lucky but actually still leaves a load of words to pick from.

No, it's from ages ago, game 826 as it says.
Second guess must be _a_o_. 1st letter can't be c, 3rd letter can't be r, 5th can't be l, and the word must contain 2 out of three of c,l,r. Give me a word that would have been a sensible 2nd guess that meets thise conditions. Fairly obvious you weren't just deleting the odd row, that's working backwards from knowing the answer.
Second guess must be _a_o_. 1st letter can't be c, 3rd letter can't be r, 5th can't be l, and the word must contain 2 out of three of c,l,r. Give me a word that would have been a sensible 2nd guess that meets thise conditions. Fairly obvious you weren't just deleting the odd row, that's working backwards from knowing the answer.

Scores up to 250 were in the quite exceptionally good range. I never use the same opening word
Just switch it about each day trying to use a word with two vowels and three consonents
